I'm in north yorkshire and it's raining here now!! but nothing looked remotely damp when I first opened my curtains and I heard no rain in the night...

Apparently the most reliable sites are The Met Office and Accuweather. BBC one is consistently wrong.

That must depend on where you live. BBC gets it right most of tge time for my part of the NE.

We once had a weather forecaster as a speaker at one of our events. Some bright spark asked him if he had ever considered looking out of the window! We all laughed but there was truth in it .

Unless it’s for the F1 racing! Humself used to say how accurate it was when the drivers were told by their control centre via headphones “rain in 8 minutes” 😁

Commiserations on being 'down south', you've had this heatwave far worse than we have.

We had our first proper rainfall for weeks last night, as forecast by the BBC and it's properly raining again now, also as per the BBC forecast.

I wonder if your google result was AI based. AI seems to just go by what is the most frequently expressed opinion on a topic, rather than detailed analysis. It's quite happy to change its mind, too, if you challenge it.

It rained here throughout the night and into the early morning. It's dry at the moment and according to the BBC weather app we can expect a temperature of 23° this afternoon. I hope this turns out to be the case although it's still cloudy. I would like to go for a walk later.

It's rained quite heavily here (Northwest Durham) this morning but has paused at the moment.

No rain in London and no sign of it for the foreseeable.

We live within a few miles of the Meteorological Office, and they still occasionally get our local weather wrong!
The Met Office lost its contract to provide weather forecasts for the BBC about 10 years ago, but I think they have now reverted back to working together?

One thing they all get right is that the sea is deliciously warm this summer!

We've had the tiniest bit of rain here this morning. Absolutely not enough to do any good at all.

I've found the Met Office reasonably accurate but so much depends on exactly where you live.

We laughed one Winter when it promised snow and the sun was shining. We drove to the supermarket about 8 miles away and drove back through a snow storm until about 3 miles from our house, when the sun shone again.

We've left our estate where it was bone dry to find large puddles a mile down the main road where they've obviously had heavy rain over night.

All weather forecasters online got the weather wrong for this week in the South East. This time last week it looked like it would rain for several days this week, but by the weekend all the rain icons had disappeared, and this happens quite a lot.
Now we are being told it will be dry for at least another week so judging by past forecasting failures does that mean it will rain?

The BBC weather app forecast for my local weather is almost always accurate. I’m way down south.

Absolutely spot-on today. Very slight chance of rain this morning - ominous clouds loomed but not a drop fell. Sunny spells and very warm this afternoon, and the sun is indeed shining.

The forecast for the village a couple of miles away is frequently slightly different to mine, and is also usually correct.

Yes, my friend’s Met Office forecast is invariably wrong.

Where we live it is very changeable and known for it. Sometimes it actually rains in the front and not in the back yard. We must live over some sort of a divide, we at the foot of some hills. They say if you are hot wait ten minutes and it will be cold in Melbourne.

We just had some rain, just even to bring the roots up to the surface!
We need a really good downpour.

I'm praying for rain but not on the coming Sunday when I am hosting a garden party for 26 people.
