grin I bet you do!

nanachrissy Mon 12-Mar-12 15:31:19

I'm sorry, I wish I'd kept quiet now....grin

No it's not a time out thing.
If it's on a tab at the top of the screen, I can come and go as often as I like but if i close the tab, not having logged out, and then click on Gnet again, the home page comes up, still says "Log out" next to "In box", but comes up underneath with the please log in boxes. confused

I have tried not to say this.

"The timing out after a reasonable amount of time sounds normal. "

No it doesn't.

Good idea, Annobel grin.

The timing out after a reasonable amount of time sounds normal.

Yes, you can read any of the threads without being logged in.

Annobel Mon 12-Mar-12 12:30:18

I have to re-log in if I have been away and logged in on another computer. Otherwise, I have no trouble. I have Gnet as a big icon on my Chrome home screen.

That happens with me too Elegran - after some time I always have to log in again even though I never "log out". Like you - I assumed it was to do with a Time-out. Not a great problem for me as I use ShortKeys so I just have to touch a couple of keys

Elegran Mon 12-Mar-12 12:03:33

If I leave Gransnet on the screen and go away for a while, then return after a while (have not timed exactly how long) it will let me read posts but not access the "I'm on" or post anything until I have logged in again. I assumed that it was something to do with a timeout when the computer was idle for a set length of time.

So, chrissy, we're trying to work out when you get the log in screen then, if you still have log out at the top - when does it ask you for your login details?

wotsamashedupjingl Mon 12-Mar-12 11:15:02

I just type gr in the address bar (don't even bother with www) and "Active Conversations" comes up immediately under it, which I click on.

That's how I do it. I stay logged on ok.

(It does mean I rarely look at the Home Page though!)

nanachrissy Mon 12-Mar-12 11:07:56

If I keep Gnet on a tab it's fine, but if the tab is closed (without me logging off) then I have to log in again, but the Gnet page still has "Log out" at the top.
Sorry, I'm not very experienced with computers. hmm

Other sites such as Mumsnet, fb,google, gmail, all remember me without me having to put my password etc. in again.

Like I said in my e mail, I appreciate that it's not the end of the world! smile

JosieGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 12-Mar-12 10:18:42

How do you mean "it doesn't recognise you", nanachrissy?

When does it ask for your log in details?

JosieGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 12-Mar-12 10:16:05

Hmm this sounds like an odd one, nanachrissy.

Is anyone else having this problem? We'll pass it on to Tech and see if they can shed any light on it.

nanachrissy Sat 10-Mar-12 17:12:17

It's never been ok, so I'm heaping all the blame on GNHQ and His Excellency Tech!!!

I love you really grin

Carol Sat 10-Mar-12 17:03:19

Ah, yes, you're right nanachrissy. Sounds like some glitch going on. Have you done system 'restore' to a date you know it was ok?

nanachrissy Sat 10-Mar-12 16:43:13

Thanks Carol but if that were so, it would be all the sites that were affected not just Gnet surely?
confused

Carol Sat 10-Mar-12 08:49:16

There may be something in your instructions to your computer that needs enabling or disabling. I had a similar problem, and happened to notice a box that was ticked that I unticked and didn't have the problem again, but unfortunately I can't remember how I found it - it was either on Control Panel or Computer.

nanachrissy Sat 10-Mar-12 08:42:22

Forgot to say, it never says "Log in", it still says "Log out" but doesn't recognise me. confused

nanachrissy Sat 10-Mar-12 08:40:20

Does anyone else have this problem as GNHQ are stumped?
Even though I never log out, I always have to log in (and always tick the remember box) whenever I close the tab at the top of the page. I don't have this problem with Mumsnet (only visit rarely) or any other site.
I use Mozilla Firefox.
