I was a bit slow off the mark, but feel as though I really know some of you.
Some forums show the members names and number of posts and date of joining. Perhaps tech will get around to it when they have more time.

I can't believe the time has gone so quickly, looking at my profile I joined in June, so just a month after gransnet started. A party sounds like a good idea smile

GoldenGran Mon 16-Apr-12 18:53:38

I will be here and would love to join in. I think I joined in June or July, I can't believe it is only a year, like glassi feel we've been together for much longer-- in a good way I mean!

GillieB Mon 16-Apr-12 18:42:02

I think I joined on the first day - I read an article in "The Telegraph" and thought, "oh good". Unfortunately I'll be away on the 5th (though why "unfortunately" I have no idea as I will be on QM2 on the way back from New York!) so have a nice time.

glammanana Mon 16-Apr-12 18:25:31

annika we could all have a guess as to who was the first member?

Annika Mon 16-Apr-12 18:02:17

yea !!! Party, party party when, where.grin
How many of us old young at heart grans' /grandads are there on here and who was the first.confused

Butternut Mon 16-Apr-12 18:01:45

carol - I love the International concept. I don't think America is best favourite on this forum wink, but 46th Street, NY would work for me, because I can tap-dance! grin
New Orleans sounds fabulous.

glammanana Mon 16-Apr-12 17:50:04

glass remember my cymbals and penny whistle.grin

Carol Mon 16-Apr-12 17:11:30

Bourbon Street in New Orleans is a happy sort of place. Lots of bars and restaurants, jazz and soul bands playing, no traffic, and people up on the verandahs ready to throw you beaded necklaces if you smile and shout up at them.

Or how about the Ramblas in Barcelona? Loads of space, lots of colour and excitement, and plenty of people passing through with street entertainers, right by the sea if we want some lovelyfresh sea food.

Or the Boardwalk, Deauville - we could sit by the sea and enjoy the sunset, play music and celebrate, whilst we eat shellfish and throw the shells into the foamy brine. Loads of lovely soft cheeses and local wine. What could be better?

Or.......I've got loads of favourite streets..............

Gally Mon 16-Apr-12 17:02:41

Heavens, I can't believe a whole year has passed. Maybe we should descend en masse on Gransnet Central

SOOP Mon 16-Apr-12 17:02:16

Luverly juberly...another party to look forward to. grin

MaggieP Mon 16-Apr-12 16:32:25

I am happy to play a few piano tunes, make some buns, maybe a few bottles of sparkling... Where would be a central spot Geraldine? and yes how many might we be? If Oldie Borum are joining us that could be a huge amount....?

Butternut Mon 16-Apr-12 16:17:25

I'll bring Mam's Boiling Broonie, glass - and cut flowers from the hedgerows and garden for the tables.

Ariadne Mon 16-Apr-12 16:10:20

I'll write an ode to GN! The muse is calling.

Where is a nice street? Champs Élysées, perhaps?

jeni Mon 16-Apr-12 16:00:57

How many are there of us? Geraldine! We want to know!

glassortwo Mon 16-Apr-12 15:37:44

Its hard to believe that's its only 1 year, I feel as if I have known some of you for years.

A street party is a good idea, but we will need lots of tables as there a quite a few of us now. We need a piano like they had at the street parties after the war.

notso might be able to do us a tune on her Ukulele. Baggy might do a little Scottish Dancing, thats all the Gransnet talents I can think of at the minute.

Oldgreymare Mon 16-Apr-12 15:34:39

Sounds better than having one for the Olympics!
I'm very fed up about not getting tickets so get really miffed when I receive e-mails ( from the website) suggesting I organise a party for friends, they have even offered to send me ideas!!!
I'd far rather be sitting in a seat at the actual stadium HRMPH angry.

Carol Mon 16-Apr-12 15:25:19

We could have a street party with lots of party food??

greenmossgiel Mon 16-Apr-12 15:20:59

Anagram, that's just US that's been going for years! grin

Anagram Mon 16-Apr-12 15:16:32

Gosh, I didn't realise it began so recently - for some reason I thought it had been going for years!

Notsogrand Mon 16-Apr-12 15:07:53

I've got bunting and bun tins. grin

glassortwo Mon 16-Apr-12 14:53:30

As its less than 3 weeks until the 1st Anniversary of Gransnet 5th May ( I hope thats the correct date, if my memory has not failed me altogether) smile
How are we going to celebrate?

Do we need to start making bunting or baking, any suggestions?????
