As you know we will be celebrating our first birthday on 5th May - and to say thank you for making it a really special year we have put together a fabulous goodie box as a gift for one lucky Gransnetter.

All you have to do to enter is post on this thread telling us your favourite Gransnet moment from the last year.

The prize includes chocolate from Montezuma's Great British Pudding range, a bottle of No.3 gin and some fabulous books and the winner will be picked at random on Monday 7th May.

After that they snook the Age UK one in quietly! grin

Actually, one of the funniest moments for me was when Charlotte, one afternoon and quite out of the blue, started posting a whole lot of random threads to get her Oldie Borum Forum going.

We all went into a 'get orf our website' spin, and you could imagine poor Josie frantically phoning Charlotte along the lines of, "what the flip do you think you're doing?! We haven't softened 'em up prepared them yet!

It was quite funny. grin

Sorry Josie.

Annika, So much sadness for you. In the long run, your happy memories will take over and your friend will always be with you in the grandchildren you share. Meanwhile, we are here to share your sorrow and support you whenever you need us. ((((hugs))))

My favourite Gransnet moment was finding out about it in the first place. A friend mentioned she'd won something from Gransnet and I'd never heard of it. I quickly looked it up, and joined. I've just been a gran since January so I love having a group of grans to discuss things with.

Hello Annika. It's been a really sad time for you, and I can't even begin to think about how you (and the rest of your family) are feeling just now. As whenim64 said earlier, keep having a wee look at the chats we're having - we'll all be here for you when you're ready. flowers

Good morning Annika, it's just nice to have you around, so why not dip in and if we can cheer you up every now and again that's a bonus. Have a peaceful day and look after yourself [flowers)

I have not been feeling like posting much on here the last week or so as it has been a bit of a sad time in our house.
My favourite moment would have to be all the lovely words of comfort I have had over the last few days, it has helped me so much. They are a great bunch of folks on here and I think that is what makes Gransnet first and foremost. So I raise a wine to everyone on here and also to the Gransnet team wine flowers

Finding out that my friend, Sheila - who introduced me to Gransnet, had won one of your competitions. It meant she got to spend a weekend in London and I will never forget when she knocked on my door early one morning and was able to walk to work with me. We talked and breakfasted on the way- a great way to start the day. Without Gransnet, the competition and Sheila's luck that would never have been possible!

I too have slowly and surely become hooked on Gransnet! I check my emails, clean up my Inbox then treat myself to a good old read of the Forums. Gransnet is just like a great big and very friendly coffee morning into which you can pop at any time. Keep it up Gransnetters and GNHQ! Happy Birthday.cupcake

Oooh yes em that would be interesting!

Is anyone else starting to feel quite giddy about tomorrow?

I'm looking forward to seeing what comes up, if you know what I mean! grin

Have enjoyed so many aspects of Gransnet - Christmas with the panto and carol singing stand out! I wonder if I'm the only one who'd like to see again all the posts made on that first day?

Annobel Fri 04-May-12 19:25:51

Good for you, netgran. You're not by any chance in the Greater Manchester/North Cheshire area?
I've been thinking - how about a car sticker to identify GNetters? Like the square National Trust stickers that go on the front windscreen.

netgran Fri 04-May-12 18:41:14

Have only been posting fora very short while but am going to make myself a badge to wear tomorrow stating 'Happy 1st Birthday Gransnet' if you see me please say Hi

I enjoyed receiving that book too. And having to learn how to use Amazon when I won a gift voucher which paid for some books no longer in print mentioned on the 'Books you read as a child' thread. I was amazed when I actually managed to join Gransnet a year ago as I'd never joined anything like this before - & I continue to enjoy the sharing of ideas, troubles and joys. It was great to meet real gransnetters & Geraldine at the Google event last June - & to invent something with real IT techies & other G'netters. Going to Pearsons to do the workbook trials has given me days out in London, M & S vouchers & improved IT skills - I even learnt how to join facebook. And I'll be logging in even more now my mobility is compromised after breaking a bone in my foot last week on the David Hockney Trail in Yorkshire.
Gransnet reminds me that the spirit of women supporting each other I felt in the 70s still lives.

Grandmanorm Fri 04-May-12 17:34:56

Oops, and meant to say a big thank you to the folks running Gransnet.

Grandmanorm Fri 04-May-12 17:34:02

Happy Birthday Gransnet, I love this web site and have recommended it to my friends. I specially loved the e-mail telling me that I would receive the book The House on Paradise Street. The book was fabulous, as I think I have said on a previous link. I have finished it and passed it on.
I do sometimes forget what I have written before, forgive me. My joy is that it is also happening to my friends
Again, Happy Birthday to a super site..
