We're holding our first-ever census of gransnetters. Tell us what you love and hate about us, what you want to see on the site, what you care about...We've got amazingprizes to give away...It won't take too long to fill in and it could help make Gransnet SO much better.
Prizes include a stay in a luxury hotel, beauty products from Elemis, chocolate from Montezuuma, a Fortnum and Mason hamper and much, much else besides. Read more about all the prizes you could win here.
Here is the full list of prizes:
An overnight stay in a Luxury Family Hotel for 2 adults and 2 children worth £300
Thanks Josie - yet I was referring to my post of 28.09.12 13.23 about competitions in general as well, but I expect the same will apply.
As for the Crescent Moon - I'm getting mixed messages. I thought you were getting tech on to it. I must have misunderstood. No of course, no one has ownership of emoticons. I just thought the community would enjoy a companion to the sunshine........
Perhaps the moon would make a good analogy of gransnetters:
"The moon is whole all the time, but we can't always see it. What we see is an almost moon or a not-quite-moon. The rest is hiding just out of view, but there's only one moon, so we follow it in the sky. We plan our lives based on its rhythms and tides." (Alice Sebold)
We're just double checking with the company on the exact wording, Barrow, but as far as we can see on the terms and conditions, you should be able to take the prize with a friend, should you win it.
We did reply to you about this here. We are very sorry, but unfortunately, it's not something we can do anything about for the time being.
We'll only ask Tech to create emoticons that lots of people on the boards are asking for. They're for the use of the community as a whole, although there are some who are more <ahem> persistent in their support .
Feeling a bit miffed, frankly. When I asked a question about Gransnetters living in France, and not having the same opportunities re. free books etc., I get not a peep, zilch, nada from GNHQ.
And why is it Jeni's Crescent Moon? It was my idea, I canvassed for it, bumped it -
Done. I see the top prize is a stay in a hotel for two adults and two children. This is a bit off-putting for those who are alone (I assume there would be no cash equivalent!). I'm sure I won't win the top prize but I think a little more thought could have been put into the top prize. In my own case, I am a widow, have no children, and all my friends and family have partners - so that prize would be of little use to me! I think there will be a number of people on here who are widowed.
