I often think the blue lettering that indicates a link doesn't show up enough. Can anything be done about this? (It could be just me)

Don't give them anything else to sort out Jo they've got enough already! grin

jO5 Tue 20-Nov-12 10:06:21

I know! That's why I added "it might be just me". grin

A response would be a little bit nice. Even "Leave us alone. Grrrrrr!"

Or perhaps we have been totally abandoned. I wonder how long a website can drift along, completely rudderless. Could be years. smile

Yes, they still haven't responded to the PMs thread...confused

I think the blue is fine, but we really could do with an edit facility!

I don't know how to put a link from a newspaper up. I gave it a try last week, but failed confused. How is it done?

Ana Tue 20-Nov-12 18:07:46

You have to highlight and copy the whole of the http:/ box at the top of your computer, then paste it in your post (having ticked the 'convert links automatically' box first, of course!).

Thanks Ana......I'm not very good at that sort of thing - how do I know what to put in the box though? Sorry to be so dense! blush

Ana Tue 20-Nov-12 18:25:35

Left click on the http box with your mouse (if you don't use one, I don't know, I'm afraid!) which will highlight the area blue - then right click it and click on 'copy' from the list.
That information will then be stored so you can transfer it into your post box by right clicking mouse again and selecting 'paste' from the list.

Hope that helps! smile

I shall give it a go when the opportunity arises, Ana........hmm!

Hi there, sorry for arriving late...

j05, not sure what you mean by 'doesn't show up enough'? Do you mean that some links are clickable and some are not? All links on our content pages should be clickable (do tell us if they're not!), but links on threads can only be created by the poster.

There's instructions on how to create a link below the 'add your message here' box:

To add links, type two square brackets [[ ]] around the page address you want to link to. Without the square brackets, the page address will come out as (for example) http://www.gransnet.com
[[ www.gransnet.com ]] (without the space in between) gives www.gransnet.com
[[ www.gransnet.com Gransnet ]] (without the spaces after and before the brackets) gives Gransnet
Ticking "Convert links automatically" will turn any links that look like http://www.gransnet.com/ into www.gransnet.com/

Hope that makes sense!

Kat, I think JO meant that the blue colour doesn't stand out enough.

isthisallthereis Wed 21-Nov-12 16:13:50

Agreed.

jO5 Wed 21-Nov-12 16:33:51

Yes. Did mean that the blue writing is not contrasting enough. Like - when it comes out - black black black black blue black black. IYSWIM. smile

Probabaly just my eyes though!

Ah, that's interesting. Tech currently has a VERY long list of little jobs (that's our story - some of them aren't little at all) and is working round the clock in a dedicated and slightly sweaty manner...but can see this might be an issue and if it is, we could look at another colour for links.

Thanks for getting Tech to sort out the Disappearing Links, Geraldine! smile
