Look out the whole site is being spammed. I can't report it quick enough another one just appears.

Barrow Fri 14-Dec-12 13:48:22

How do you report it - I noticed the ads and sent an email to GNHQ - is there a quick link to report these things?

Ana Fri 14-Dec-12 13:49:14

It's the button after 'Add comment' Barrow.

Barrow Fri 14-Dec-12 13:49:16

Whoops - just noticed the "report" button blush

Barrow Fri 14-Dec-12 13:50:22

Thanks - shall now go and make an appointment with optician!

And the next one along says 'private message' Barrow! hmm

Elegran Fri 14-Dec-12 14:04:50

It would be quicker for GNHQ to delete the poster completely.

They were probably caught unawares ... probably the staff party wink

Yes have noticed all the spammers.. spent most of my morning deleting the posts! Please do report when you see new ones crop up, though no need to go through every thread, just tell us if you've seen a poster spam more than once!

I must be being very slow this weekend - haven't spotted any!

POGS Sat 15-Dec-12 20:54:59

Right here goes.

Can someone tell what spamming means/is in an easy peasy way. I really do not know what it means.

Thanks blush

'Spam' is unwanted, unsolicited email.

annodomini Sat 15-Dec-12 21:15:15

And it can be risky to respond to it. Your service provider probably has a spam filter at work on your emails.

POGS Sat 15-Dec-12 21:36:14

Thanks.

How do I know?. Is it purely the case it would show in my 'inbox'? Absolutely no other way.

I do worry when I get something like 'Norton has found bla bla bla'. I always press the x box and knock it off, should I always respond?

Am I right this happens when say I look at something a GN has put in blue type.

Greatful for input G.N.'s Not a computer genius obviously. blush

Ana Sat 15-Dec-12 21:45:51

No, GN blue type is fine, POGS, it's either a link put in by another GNetter or GNHQ and is quite safe. I get those Norton messages - they're just to inform you, I just x them as well!

Your service provider will shunt all suspect emails (i.e. spam) straight into your 'junk' box. You don't need to do anything about that, it gets automatically deleted after so many days.

Ana

As always thank you. flowers

Ana Sat 15-Dec-12 22:11:58

You're welcome POGS smile

I should have added a proviso: occasionally a spam email will slip though the net and appear in your in-box, but they're usually easy to spot - a bank you have no account with, a firm you have never done business with etc. Just delete them.
