Panic mongering!

On the front page of the site: "Britain braced for 40 hours of snow!"

Wow. 40 hours.

Are we turning into a red top?!

We only have a yellow warning in the North East, so just the usual snow fall.

Our trusted DM reporting panic buying in supermarkets !

Anne58 Thu 17-Jan-13 23:40:18

If there's panic buying, which I doubt, and if there really IS it will have probably (note the word) been started by the DM, then I'd better do an emergency run for booze and ciggies!

My sister in Canada is regularly reduced to giggles at our idea of "snow" = where she lives anything less than several feet is considered trivial, come to think of it, the Germans and Scandinavians I know are the same.
I know I have become a wuss since moving to the soft south - never missed a day off school in Scotland even in the winter of (was it?) 1963 when we had 20ft drifts for weeks on the A7. Mind you I wasn't driving then and like most children for me snow meant sledging, snowballs, snowmen and fun!
