Oh dear, I've cocked up, haven't I?

It was meant to be sort of tongue in cheek!

New members, come back at once, we're really nice, honest!

I see a lot of men wearing necklaces! They seem to be de rigeur in the drug using set in Bristol.

gracesmum Fri 26-Jul-13 16:03:43

Oh and there should be a restriction on long complicated words when short ones would do. A character limit like on Twitter?
(No typing test, please - I'd fall at the first hurdle!!) grin

Gorki Fri 26-Jul-13 15:54:19

They would have to take a spelling test and a typing test grin.

We don't seem to have had many new members posting lately. I wonder why ??? Or at least they haven't introduced themselves as newbies.

Well done, nina wink

We'll know people have stopped being sexist when seeing men wearing pearls doesn't even raise an eyebrow.

ninathenana Fri 26-Jul-13 15:50:37

I hope nobody has joined today and just read this thread.

Oooh, hang on I forgot to ask if I'm allowed to post yet.

JessM Fri 26-Jul-13 15:49:07

Nothing wrong with pearls. i put mine on when I want to appear a bit more grown up. Am reminded of someone whose partner worked with me when I was chair of govs. It was our second or third meeting. I was wearing my favourite LBD from Zara in a party. She was slightly drunk. "You don't look a bit like I expected" she said "I thought you would be shorter, and wear suits all the time."
On some forums (fora?) they have a grading system of members. Humble beginners who have restricted abilities (a bit like a role play game, only allowed to wield a feeble wand not a Sword of Power) up to gold star members who have been posting in a grown up way for decades.
Ho hum. Last lap of moving. Retires to clear last dregs out of spare room in yoga waistband skirt and river island t shirt with a saggy bum flap like what they were selling last year.

Gorki Fri 26-Jul-13 15:48:03

That's a new way of wearing them vegasmags grin

janthea Fri 26-Jul-13 15:42:23

Probably not the done thing to wear the pearls WITHOUT the twinset. Might scare the horses!

janthea Fri 26-Jul-13 15:41:36

No twinset but plenty of pearls!!

vegasmags Fri 26-Jul-13 15:40:48

I actually do have a twin set and pearls, but I only wear them ironically.

gracesmum Fri 26-Jul-13 15:39:42

Pictures would be compulsory and in different categories - daywear, evening wear and beach wear.

Gally Fri 26-Jul-13 15:30:35

I'd like to see Frank and Gerry in a twin set and pearls grin

Anne58 Fri 26-Jul-13 15:26:37

Probably not a committee, perhaps a balloting system instead?

Of course, the term being "black balled" might have to be reconsidered.

Ana Fri 26-Jul-13 15:22:40

Oh no - not a 'committee'...! wink

petallus Fri 26-Jul-13 15:20:20

You didn't say how long the probationary period should be and would we need a committee to monitor the novices to see if they 'passed' for full posting privileges?

Anne58 Fri 26-Jul-13 15:17:45

Oh heck, I would have failed the uniform test!

Good point Ana !

Galen Fri 26-Jul-13 15:15:00

I've got the pearls! But no twinset!

Riverwalk Fri 26-Jul-13 15:13:58

And they should not have a 'split' personality!

Ana Fri 26-Jul-13 15:13:53

But how would we know...? confused

feetlebaum Fri 26-Jul-13 15:12:05

And they should wear a uniform - twin-set and pearls comes to mind...

Anne58 Fri 26-Jul-13 15:05:44

During which they are only allowed to post on threads, not start them.

The threads on which they would be allowed to post would be restricted to observations about the weather, product recommendations (positive comments only) knitting and other crafts and how nice puppies and kittens are.
