Why....?!

Why does Gransnet have to be simply a "soft place to fall"? (to quote some idiot song)

Surely we are all big people and know enough to expect differing views when we post our problems on an open forum? It seems to me that the most innocuous, slightly disagreeing with the main trend, views are being stamped on at the moment.

I know the stock answer from HQ is "we are here to make people's lives easier", but I find that patronising.

Considering withany's DH's reasons and actions in his decision to desert her, doesn't suggest to me he did this to get away from her for some peace, as you stated.

jingl a number of posters expressed shock at Caz's comment, including you!

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 09-Jan-14 09:53:16

Imagination running wild again. hmm Will away to the jobs list. smile

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 09-Jan-14 09:52:36

And what would happen if, there being such a seemingly large number of people encompassed by the "GNHQ" thing, they disagreed. Are there huge rows in the background along the lines of' "That was ok! You should have left it!" and "No! It was that crabby old bat again"?

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 09-Jan-14 09:48:39

I wonder if they are just so busy setting up webchats and the like that when anything at all is reported, the easiest thing is to click the delete button?

Surely Not?!

No. I am sure they give it loads of thought.

I've been away for a while, so not sure what this is all about as I haven't read the thread mentioned. I agree with Lona though that differences of opinion are to be welcomed providing they are not expressed in a way that uses personal nastiness.

kittylester Thu 09-Jan-14 09:40:54

Concentrate kitty, Thank you Iam. Sorry. flowers

kittylester Thu 09-Jan-14 09:39:59

Thanks caz.

I've asked before if someone could keep me in the loop when anything happens as I miss everything! grin

Lona Thu 09-Jan-14 09:34:00

I agree too jings.
We are all entitled to an opinion and as long as there is no personal nastiness, I don't see why we can't express that opinion.

Iam64 Thu 09-Jan-14 08:03:51

kitty - have a look at the Withany's Bridge thread. Cazthebookworm put a comment on there, which was deleted. I saw the comment, and cannot understand why it was deleted. It seems a pity to me if the deletion of Caz's comment puts a stop to any comments on that thread that don't fully support Withany in her efforts to sort out the issues she writes about.

kittylester Thu 09-Jan-14 07:29:28

I'm with * pogs*, what have I missed this time [ confused]?

cazthebookworm Thu 09-Jan-14 00:12:41

Yes of course, I totally agree, but then how a comment is received will always be viewed in different ways by different people, that's part of what makes us individuals. You can please some of the people some of the time but,...........................................................etc.

Anne58 Wed 08-Jan-14 23:52:41

I am aware of the dictionary definitions, caz but I think that in this case what might be seen by one person as innocuous could be viewed in a different light by someone else.

Soutra Wed 08-Jan-14 23:32:10

"Golden plumbers" sounds like a song from I'm Sorry I haven't A Clue!grin

POGS Wed 08-Jan-14 23:29:28

Not with this Jing. Has something happened or is this simply a comment in general confused

cazthebookworm Wed 08-Jan-14 23:29:04

Innocuous........having little or no adverse or harmful effect;
Disagree..........to dissent in opinion from another person;

Pretty clear to me!

newist Wed 08-Jan-14 23:28:17

grin

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jan-14 23:23:35

Slumbers! Not "plumbers"!

I dunno though. #whateverlightsyercandle. smile

Anne58 Wed 08-Jan-14 23:23:04

Plumbers???????????????

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 08-Jan-14 23:22:03

Shushabyes Galen. moon

- sings golden plumbers ever so softly -

Anne58 Wed 08-Jan-14 23:20:05

Depends on what is meant by innocuous & slightly disagreeing, really, and I think it might be quite hard to put a clear definition on that.

Galen Wed 08-Jan-14 23:13:49

Difficult.
I need to think about this!
I've had little or no sleep since Friday and I can't answer such a philosophical question without sleep!

merlotgran Wed 08-Jan-14 23:07:26

I was thinking along the same lines before you came back, jingle grin
