Identical thread titles

I know I shouldn't start a thread about threads but surely it's against the rules to have two threads with exactly the same titles. If it's confusing for us 'old lags', how much more confusing must it be for new members?

On the subject of deleting threads Kat it was very mean of you to delete 'Fire blanket' - we could have had a lot of fun with that! grin

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 20-Feb-14 10:54:45

wink !!!!

jinglbellsfrocks Thu 20-Feb-14 10:54:24

It only had three! hmm How quick do you want?! hmm

KatGransnet (GNHQ) Thu 20-Feb-14 10:51:09

You're welcome to report duplicate threads to us in future - we might get to it a bit quicker and delete the thread before it collects up posts!

annodomini Thu 20-Feb-14 09:42:13

Thanks Kat. Just for the record, my OP wasn't intended to get at anyone or meant as criticism. It was solely for information and to avoid confusion - as I said.

Nelliemoser Thu 20-Feb-14 09:26:53

There have been similar duplications of threads like "in the news" before. Timing is usually the issue here.

Having just had two attempts this morning to reset my GN password and cocking them up I am in no position to criticise.

If anyone else tries, it seems you have to wait a few seconds for the new password to register with GN.

Well done Kat of Gransnet. grin

D0LLIE Thu 20-Feb-14 09:22:18

thankyou katgran

KatGransnet (GNHQ) Thu 20-Feb-14 09:09:54

Hi there - we've deleted the duplicate thread (the one with only three posts).

Flowerofthewest Thu 20-Feb-14 09:06:36

Again - does it really matter in the great scheme of things?

Lona Thu 20-Feb-14 08:15:56

It's not the first time this has happened accidentally, (Bar thread to name one) and probably won't be the last.

D0LLIE Thu 20-Feb-14 08:08:56

the cut out of their lives2 thread didnt die a death or a third wouldnt have been started...it just wouldnt accept anymore postings as it was up to 1000... so a 3rd was started by myself and another member obviously at the same time...there is no delete button to remove one but it does state on one thread to use the other...

Sorry for the confusion but it was no way intentional!

Aka Thu 20-Feb-14 07:58:36

Ceesnan it is obvious what has happened. Shame that some people are ready to jump in with comments which with hindsight just look silly (at best) or nasty (at worst)

glassortwo had it bang to rights with her question does it matter?

Ceesnan Thu 20-Feb-14 07:02:42

Surely it is obvious that the threads were posted by different people at almost the same time, and when it was realised an effort was made to resolve the problem. Is there really any need for nasty comments? Do some people not recognise a coincidence? FFS!

Flowerofthewest Thu 20-Feb-14 00:05:03

No violin then Jings ? grin Opium maybe, could help

It is irritating, though, when one individual deliberately starts exactly the same thread under two or three different headings. It's quite different when two people have the same idea more or less simultaneously. That's happened a number of times.

Aka Wed 19-Feb-14 23:36:11

No, it doesn't.

glassortwo Wed 19-Feb-14 22:45:33

Does it matter!!!!!!

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 19-Feb-14 22:32:46

Oh it's a "denied contact" thread. hmm

[stows super-sleuth cap, pipe and magnifying glass and takes to well earned bed]

moon

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 19-Feb-14 22:28:28

There are two "Cut out of their lives 3". Looks like the posters have agreed to let the surplus one die a death.

Dopn't know about the "ours".

merlotgran Wed 19-Feb-14 22:18:23

I'm a bit confused as well. I don't think I've seen identical threads....similar but not identical. confused

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 19-Feb-14 21:34:38

The "ours" is even more difficult. [despairs and wrings hands]

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 19-Feb-14 21:32:30

By the time I get to the bottom of Actives, I can't remember what the threads at the top are called.

thatbags Wed 19-Feb-14 21:31:28

IS there anything the rules that outlaws identical thread titles? I don't remember ever seeing such a rule.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 19-Feb-14 21:25:10

I'm sorry my Kindle Fire seems intent on saying ars to posters.
