And not just for the cupcake

Why not have a go as a local editor? It pays! I saw an article about a MN local editor (exactly the same thing) who claimed she could earn up to £1k a month and she works three days a week fixed around her children...

One things for certain you would be spoilt for choice with references flowers

I know some local sites work very well, but the whole concept does not appeal to me at all. However, with your business sense, phoenix you might very well make a real go of it.

Don't expect to make £1000 a month editing the Gransnet site, though. I'd say that would only happen after years of hard slog getting adverts in a highly competitive market from a cold start, and the advertisers have the option of a free listing on the sites - why pay when they can get it for nothing?.

You would get £100 a month from Gransnet for the first year, to cover your expenses getting going, which is something. That is unless the money earmarked for that has run out now.

Contact them, Phoenix. You would be very good at it - organised, outgoing, able to write copy. There is nowhere for funny accounts of your day, though, be warned.

You would make a good local editor phoenix give it a try.

Charleygirl Sun 23-Feb-14 10:40:55

Why not, you can but try.

GO on, phoenix. Nothing ventured...

Hiya, Phoenix.

We're just letting you know that we've seen your thread.

There isn't many folk in the office at the moment with it being the weekend and all, but I've flagged your thread to the rest of the team and they will get back to you as soon as they can.

thanks

Go on, Phoenix - if anyone knows anything about marketing you do. smile

Anne58 Sun 23-Feb-14 12:52:28

Not sure that being a local editor would suit me to be honest. Julie I think that it might be a bit of a commute from Devon!

Ana Sun 23-Feb-14 12:56:43

What did you have in mind, phoenix?

JulieGransnet (GNHQ) Sun 23-Feb-14 13:15:18

Ah, but every area has it's own local editor, Phoenix. You can work from home and you wouldn't need to commute. If your area already has a local editor, you could join forces or choose another area which isn't too far from you.

Nonnie Sun 23-Feb-14 13:30:21

And you could do it all in poetry! smile

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 23-Feb-14 14:50:12

Would she get paid?

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 23-Feb-14 15:21:44

Have I killed the thread? Shame.

glassortwo Sun 23-Feb-14 15:23:53

grin jingle

glammanana Sun 23-Feb-14 17:24:01

grin jings we could always have what we call here in Liverpool as a "whip around" for Phoenix

kittylester Sun 23-Feb-14 18:01:05

phoenix - it won't all be wine and cupcake, you know! grin

Ana Sun 23-Feb-14 22:36:16

Perhaps you could be in charge of the 'delete' button at weekends, phoenix grin

janerowena Mon 24-Feb-14 12:33:44

Ana grin

I did that once for a very large forum, and oooh the guilt...
