I still hate moving advertisements

Yep, drive me mad, too! I put something in front of the screen to cover them, otherwise, no matter how hard I try to ignore them, they keep drawing my eyes

living in the countryside as I do I have a very slow internet connection and these ads always seem to load first!!

My problem also - it really slows my laptop down and can take ages to load pages from this site (and others) when there are a lot of moving ads - so I make a point of not looking at them.

Mind you, I watched a film not too long ago called 'Hardwired' about advertisers who got tired of people not watching their adverts and took some rather dubious methods of ensuring that people did <gulp>

They don't usually bother me, but those clumping walking boots do...

They're wasted on me as well. I have just taken a look at the one at the top of the screen which is about joint care. If bags hadn't drawn my attention to the moving ads I wouldn't have even noticed it was there.

Don't think you can Bags think you either have it or you don't. I have another great gift, I can sit in the passenger seat and become a non-driver. Don't even notice whether we turn left or right just enjoy the scenery. Then when I am going on my own DH insists I know the route as we have done it several times. DH on the other hand needs to be totally in control when in the passenger seat!

What a useful faculty to have! Wish I knew how to cultivate that skill.

I'm with shysal on this, I don't even see them, either on GN or on my emails. They are completely wasted on me. Perhaps I have tunnel vision?

I am able to completely ignore all the ads on GN, didn't know some of them moved! (I must resist the temptation to have a look now!)

Yes, sunseeker is right; I'm talking about ads on gransnet.

I do that too, lona, but it's annoying to have to because one has to do it everytime the page is refreshed.

So, please, HQ, tell the advertisers that if they want our custom, we'd prefer less irritating ads—ones that keep still on our computers. We might even read them then . They should be interested in effective advertising, shouldn't they? All they're doing at the moment is being annoying.

I adjust my page size so that the ads fall off the edge.
The moving ones are very irritating!

I usually record most of what I watch and zoom through the ads. It has the added benefit of making the programme shorter so I spend less time watching TV.

I rarely see ads as that is when I go to the loo, make coffee or fill the cat bowl with water or food as required. A lot of money wasted and I imagine that I am not alone.
