I am finding this site so very slow!

Having done a few experiments with timing, have found that lunchtime seems to be the fastest! So that's when I will come on here in future.

Nope, my computer is fine. The site here is working well tonight, but that is often not the case.Other social media sites are fast, this is the only one I have problems with.It does vary time-wise, so it's just a case of seeing what times work best with Gnet.Thanks for responses.

I had to replace my computer not long ago. I couldn't cope with the slow speed I was getting to run the forum for which I am admin, and this one was slow too. I had already upgraded my computer to its maximum capacity, and had to accept that my old one really was just that, too old and not able to cope with the many updates and upgrades foisted upon the poor thing by almost all the websites I used most. Mumsnet was impossible to use, this site is smaller so was manageable, mine became impossible as did a few others such as M&S and eBay. The amount of moving image advertising has a lot to do with it. You can try installing adblocker, or admuncher, which will help a little. Adblocker is free but not compatible for all browsers, it does work with firefox I believe, but I used admuncher which gives a free trial for a while before charging around £30 for a year. Now my computer is so fast I don't have to bother.

Mine's amazingly slow this morning. Amazon, iplayer and john lewis are all immediate.

It's all those lurkers waiting with bated breath for the gems we post. Can you blame them?

Sometimes I do find GN very, very slow and quite often a notice comes up saying 'Gransnet is not responding'. I don't get that on any of the other sites I visit.
