The link to the third one (from John Lewis) doesn't work.

(The other two, where the links do work, are all sold out!)

And I don't think any Gransnetters could get into those skinny jeans.

durhamjen Thu 13-Aug-15 22:31:41

How's she that size when she bakes all those cakes?

WilmaKnickersfit Thu 13-Aug-15 23:06:35

I liked her jacket last week, but hated the one she wore last night. I think she's slim because 1. She only has a small piece of things and 2. She's got a will of iron! grin

Now I know where I got the idea of a leather jacket from! (My earlier thread.)
I still haven't got one, though we looked in John Lewis and other shops when I was on holiday last week. Mostly sold out, only rubbish and extra small sizes left. Also short of cash at the moment.

wilma she often doesn't even eat the pieces of cake, she sort of approaches them from an angle and nibbles at them...

LucyGransnet (GNHQ) Fri 14-Aug-15 13:03:54

Blimey, they've been flying off the shelves then! Promise they were in stock when we tracked them down... We'll try and find a solution.

On another note, maybe that's where I've been going wrong with my cake consumption - I obviously need to approach it from an angle! Off to test that out...

Are you going to run some up on your sewing machine Luce?

Ana Fri 14-Aug-15 22:09:45

Wouldn't you think that M&S would plan ahead if they know Mary Berry's going to be wearing one of their jackets, and get a lot more stock in?

They should have learned from last time.

WilmaKnickersfit Sat 15-Aug-15 00:37:59

Doesn't anyone else think it weird that she bakes/makes wonderful things and yet hardly seems to partake herself? I have seen her on her own show and watched the documentary about her and she seems to do it all for her family or others.

On the Jo Brand show tonight one of the panel was a cooking expert (Rosemary something and she was a big woman who clear enjoyed food (a bit too much!).

This is going to sound awful, but I would like her more if she ate a bit more of the things she praises highly on the show. [Blush]

Is that opinion connected at all with your (great) username, Wilma?

shysal Sat 15-Aug-15 09:18:16

I ordered this 'Mary Berry' jacket from Next. I thought it would smarten up a pair of jeans, although I suspect it will stay in the wardrobe along with the bargain jackets I acquired from Ebay for the same purpose. The problem is that I am always too hot, so never wear them. There is a 3-4 week delay at Next, but it was listed as 'in stock'.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 15-Aug-15 09:30:38

I do like a little fastening on the front of a jacket. A jacket is supposed to keep you warm, and how can it do that if the front is always falling open? Same goes for those cardis they make now, with no buttons. hmm

WilmaKnickersfit Sat 15-Aug-15 09:53:35

FarNorth oh yes! Mary definitely taps into some guilty feelings for me! grin I pinched my user name from the Terry Wogan show (one of his TOGs). I heard it yonks ago and have been using myself it for a few years now (hope the original Wilma wouldn't mind).

That Next jacket is really lovely shysal and definitely will go with lots of things. smile

jinglebellfrocks I know just what you mean about fastenings, but vanity gets the better of me and this fashion wins over practicality! Mind you, it can help disguise a big bust, so I'm grateful for that aspect! grin

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 15-Aug-15 09:56:53

I knew it!!! grin Recognised it from the Terry Wogan Show. grin (didn't like to say anything)

FarNorth Sat 15-Aug-15 14:38:53

I have wondered what happened to Terry's TOGs. Do you suppose they all listen to Chris Evans now or have sloped off elsewhere?
I couldn't stand the Terry Show (sorry, fans) but I quite like Chris in the mornings.

shysal Sat 15-Aug-15 15:16:36

I can't stand Chris Evans, but used to enjoy Terry many years ago whilst driving to work, in the days of Shogun, Dallas and Dynasty on the TV. His take on them was hilarious!
These days I prefer Radios 1 and 4.

Jingl, I chose the jacket just because it had no fastening. Being such a hot body, I never button up jackets, which means they don't always hang well. I don't even possess a coat apart from waterproofs.

annsixty Sat 15-Aug-15 15:41:22

Loved Terry Wogan, he was very funny, and showing my age used to listen to the Jimmy Young show, although I think they had different time slots.
50 years ago this year two friend and I all had our first babies and we would visit each other in turn , monthly, and the challenge was to cook lunch from the recipes on the "and what's the recipe today Jim?" spot. I am probably on my own with remembering that.

WilmaKnickersfit Sat 15-Aug-15 17:44:02

As kids my Mum made us listen to the Wogan show before school and we hated it because we wanted to listen to Radio 1. But on and off, as an adult I had the show on in the car on the way to work in the morning. I used to giggle away, especially to Janet and John. I thought of myself as a TYG though, not a TOG and my name was AlisonSometimes (as in I listen sometimes) - never told anyone though! Priceless.

I suspect TYGs and TOGs are still raising money for charity.

Alea Sat 15-Aug-15 23:19:35

Well I think it looks lovely Shysal, what is the fabric?
You may well see Mary wearing it first!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 15-Aug-15 23:27:08

Ah - I was still talking about the pink ones Shysal. I can see your jacket would not look good with a fastening.

I like the middle pink one, which has a tiny hook and eye fastening in the middle of the front.

Stansgran Sun 16-Aug-15 18:45:15

Annsixty I still make Jim's breakfast cookies when I want a large quantity to fill up the DGCs . Can't stand Chris Evans. The radio stays off till he's gone. There's still a pink jacket in Viyella in the sale that is very Mary and a pretty flowery one

shysal Sun 16-Aug-15 19:28:40

I have just noticed that the pattern on the jacket fronts doesn't match! Nor do the sleeves. That will irritate me! I would never dream of making a garment without matching everything. That wouldn't score well on the GBSB.
I think Mary wore it in last week's show, but it may have been in a clip that I saw it. The model on the Next site is wearing one with denim shorts and has rolled the sleeves up. I don't think that is a look for me, but it looked good on her.
