.........to sort out the glitch whereby members' profiles indicate they have no GC, then it goes on to say they really have lots!? I know this has been brought up before, but still when I click on someone's profile, I find it is happening. I am sure that this can be solved somehow.

Agree. Mine is one that claims I have no grandchildren. I have tried several times to change it, but to no avail. I eventually just added a note to it.

I have just tried to change it again - it refuses to save my changes - says it has an exception.

No idea what mine says. <goes to look>

Seems I opted to say nothing about grandchildren, possibly because of the problem mentioned above.

Indinana Fri 14-Aug-15 16:16:55

Yes, I've tried to change mine. I keep hoping it will have been sorted, but no joy. Can't remember offhand what mine actually says...

Indinana Fri 14-Aug-15 16:18:18

Well mine looks a bit daft, because I've said "ignore what it says above - I have 3 grandchildren". But at some point I've gone and deleted "the above", so there's nothing to ignore grin. Better go and change that...

how do you find your profile? I've no idea what mine says...

Indinana Fri 14-Aug-15 16:26:48

Go to the bottom of the page grandMattie and look under 'Site Shortcuts'. You'll find 'Profile' on the right.

Indinana Fri 14-Aug-15 16:29:13

And it's not just the glitch that won't let you show the number of grandchildren you have. Every time I fill in the sections about my favourite books, films and so on, when I try to save this I get the exception thingy as well.

Luckygirl Fri 14-Aug-15 16:46:34

I've just had a look at the profile page, and I no longer have one because of the change of username. So I tried to set one up. The problem with the question about GC is that it gives you a dropdown box to decide whether you want to put their names, ages and number of GC etc., but, having made that choice, there is nowhere to actually fill in those details. It has been like this for years - so maybe it is time to sort it out! I will email HQ and direct them to this thread.

Thanks Indinana but when i tried to update it, got an error message. Probably that "ID Ten T" one... grin

grandMattie Sat 15-Aug-15 09:56:32

just tried and it wouldn't let me in - an error apparently. Could it be the dreaded "ID Ten T" error? wink

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 15-Aug-15 09:58:31

We have been saying this for years haven't we lg?! I don't think they know how! hmm

LucyGransnet (GNHQ) Sat 15-Aug-15 20:13:44

If they don't jings, they'll just have to find out! They'll get to it next week when they're back in the office and hopefully we can get it sorted once and for all.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 15-Aug-15 21:09:47

That's the way Lucy! up and at 'em girl! grin

LucyGransnet (GNHQ) Sat 15-Aug-15 21:22:59

Where there's a will, there's a way... wink

Armlock?

I have just updated my profile. The error message came up when I hit SAVE but the changes were there when I went back and viewed the profile.
As for the number of grandchildren thing, you have to have them listed in the "My Grandchildren" section and then opt for "show number of kids" in the drop down on the "Edit Profile" page. Very complicated in my opinion, a box to put a number in would be much better.

Indinana Sun 16-Aug-15 10:30:17

Pittcity I thought I'd found the answer when I saw the 'My Grandchildren' link. But when I looked at it, it seemed to be only about registering my grandchildren in order to get developmental emails. Why on earth would I want them? It seems a very bizarre thing for GN to offer IMHO.

I find it odd in the extreme that if you want your grandchildren to be listed on your profile you can only do it by agreeing to receive these ridiculous emails confused

Pittcity Sun 16-Aug-15 13:49:19

I have said yes to the emails but haven't received any in the last 2.5 years!

Indinana Sun 16-Aug-15 15:08:29

So if someone actually did want the emails..... Sounds like the whole set-up needs an overhaul to me. Urgently. It's just a horrible mess hmm
