Multiple threads

It is an understandable reaction to reach for the iPad when something catches your attention, and I may be guilty of doing just that right now (!) but we now have THREE threads on the late Terry Wogan.
To me that diminishes our response, rather than increasing it. More can be less too often.
Can we somehow rationalise this, merge the threads, agree to stick to one, cutting and pasting our posts if we do not want them to disappear?
Might be a nice little job for GNHQ on a wet Sunday when the tenis is too depressing (come on Andy!) to watch and there's no more cake.

I could happily do without one at all.

Whoops! Vowed to keep quiet!

I'm with you jings! Bad enough it's on the radio and TV ad nauseum.
Frank Finlay has died too. sad

I agree Alea.

It might rest in the hands of the posters - to have more obvious thread headings and also to check whether there is already a pertinent thread in existence one of Jess's please, I think.

It's understandable that a thread with sad as a heading (and they mostly don't work in headings any way!) isn't obviously seen as one about Terry Wogan but the second/third one was posted about 20 minutes after the first one.

So, a plea for clearer headings and a quick look at other threads before posting! Too many threads have the effect of pushing other threads off the active list - that can be annoying too.

I posted the second one. And yes, I did have a look first to see if anyone had posted about it. As far as I could see no-one had - a thread entitled [sad ] did not exactly jump out at me! So apologies, but a plea from me too for clearer headings.

But it would be nice if there were some method we could merge the threads once they have been set up. Please GNHQ is there a way to do it?

It happens. I don't think it is intentional just how it is.

I started a thread on the Zika Virus and a week later another thread was started. To be absolutely fair in that instance it is probably the case if you look at the 'Active' list then you would not know you are posting on the same subject as the original thread has 'disappeared'. If you looked at the News/Politics list you would know there was already one started. I only look at the Active list usually so I may well have done the same in the past and doubled up on a thread , who knows.

I agree it can lead to interesting views being missed and the run of a thread would be better if all posts were seen together but that depends on the thread subject.

I'm sorry to hear about the death of Frank Finlay. A wonderful character actor.
