I have signed up!!

As I just said on the wrong thread, I just went on Gransnet via Internet Explorer (usually use firefox) and I got the pink sqaure. Twice. And I signed in with my email and password. But it doesn't acknowledge the fact that I have signed in. ie I get pages rather than the one long thread I usually have, and threads the wrong way up (factory settings)

It's a bit of a puzzle, but it doesn't matter.

I don't want to stay logged in, thank you very much. I don't always use the same computer, and anyway, I think it's probably a good idea to log out of sites when you've finished for the day. I don't want to be a local editor either.

I've ticked the 'keep me logged in' and it still asks me to log in most times, and says only people logged in can join in. An odd time it doesn't ask, I've thought it must be me doing something different but no idea what.

When I have that too just lately and it is really annoying because on the tablet it fills nearly the whole page and I can't see the X in the corner to get rid of it. So I dab away at the background with my stylus but it makes no difference so I go off and do something else instead having a little swear muttering under my breath.

Then there's another one along the bottom asking me if I want to be a local editor. No, sorry I don't, we have one here already anyway.

Well, it seems to have calmed down a bit, so thank you for that, GNHQ. I can cope with once or even twice, but the endless repetition was sending me round the bend even more rapidly than usual

I'm permanently logged in. I can't even remember the password GN gave me when I had a problem ages n ages ago.

I was getting it too, very annoying when it popped up everytime I returned to list after looking at a topic. Stopped when I logged in but as you say I don't always, like when you just pop on to have a quick look at posts.

Thank you for the information KatGransnet, but just knowing that it's a slider doesn't make it any less infuriating. Once would be bad enough, but it keeps coming up and my immediate reaction is that if it doesn't stop it, I will just not come on to GN. I don't want to get Adblock just for that, and I don't want to log in every time. Please, please, stop it. Thank you. and (Bribery might just work.)

I don't get it on Firefox because I can log on there.

Oh I get that when I go onto Chrome! It seems to think I'm not a member. Funny thing is though, it won't let me log on on there. I can only log on on Firefox. But I only go on Chrome when the blocker comes on on Firefox. So it doesn't matter. And there's always my mini Ipad.

No, Ana, I'm not that paranoid (not quite ) but it is a bit annoying! Now that I've logged in, of course, it's disappeared. Never got round to Adblock as normally I just ignore adverts successfully, but this one is right in the middle over the page. If I wasn't a member - ARE YOU LISTENING GNHQ? - I certainly wouldn't want to join!
