Not two jings surely. There can't be. jings is unique. Mind you if you think us gransnetters are shocked at the thought of two jings....just think what the staff at GNHQ must be thinking ??? .

jingl is registered as jinglbellsfrocks, though. Anyway, there are several slightly different kate/katy names - I do tend to get those confused!

Surely the computer programme could recognise a name with only one letter different? When you register a website you can also register similar names so as to redirect people who mistype it to the right place.

There are two phoenix usernames now as well.

Elegran, I think the name selection process is all done by a computer programme, so GNHQ don't see the new name until it's too late.

Is GN very slow at the moment or is it just my computer...?

I do think GN should alert newcomers when they choose a username dangerously similar to one already used by another member, especially one so formidable as jinglbellsfrocks

There WILL be confusion, I am sure. My first thought was that you had had a name-change. It is a pity that the join-gn page doesn't recognise usernames that are so near to existing ones that people are going to mistake them for someone else.
