You warned me that the next time I was reported you would bar me. I have just had a post deleted.

Time to click?

But we are all human beans after all!

Perhaps the guidelines are:
Try not to hurt people's feelings, swear too badly, get angry . All of which I have been guilty of in my time on GN.

Spot on Elegran. Because they don't take an interest in us any more (and why should they?) it's easier to follow a set of 'moderator rules'.

I had a really odd response recently when I reported a spam post! confused

obieone Sat 08-Oct-16 21:21:22

I do think GN could make the guidelines easier to find?

obieone Sat 08-Oct-16 21:18:09

Forums
Gransnet is a lightly moderated site - mainly self-policing. We’re all for freedom of speech but also aim to make grandparents’ lives easier, more interesting and fun, so we do have some rules and guidelines to make the Forums work properly, so that they’re a good place to hang out.

Follow our Gransnetiquette and you'll upset no one and post happily for many moons. Better still, you'll never be on the receiving end of a quiet word from Gransnet HQ

obieone Sat 08-Oct-16 21:13:36

From me, as far as I can think, I have never reported her.

Elegran Sat 08-Oct-16 21:13:07

Thatbags I agree with you, deleting a post because someone doesn't like it and reports it isn't really moderating. To moderate, you need to read not only the post that has been reported but the whole context around it, including the tension that may exist between the sender of the reported post and the person reporting it. Much like arbitrating a set-to between two if your children, in fact.

THEN you might:-
a) Delete the post and throw the poster out with a flea in their ear.
b) Delete the post and tell the poster why.
c) Send the poster a message reminding them of the guidelines and pointing out how they came near to breaking them.
d) Sent the complainer a message reminding THEM of the guidelines and pointing out that the post they reported does not break them.

This all takes time. It also goes against the statement that this is NOT a moderated forum.

I was at the end of the trail more than a week ago Ana.

Ceesnan Sat 08-Oct-16 21:06:37

I wonder if the people who reported Jingle did so because they genuinely thought that she had contravened the guidlines, or whether it was becsuse it was Jingle. Have any of them got the balls to speak up and say why?

Ana Sat 08-Oct-16 21:05:35

Good one, wot! grin

Ana Sat 08-Oct-16 21:04:54

Watch out, Obieone's on the trail again! wink

wot Sat 08-Oct-16 21:02:29

I thought it might have been a Freudian slip!

Jessielovestuna1 Sat 08-Oct-16 21:01:39

I apologise for my spelling, that should read anything...bloody ipad grin.

Jessielovestuna1 Sat 08-Oct-16 21:00:06

I would never accuse anyone of anyjing.

thatbags Sat 08-Oct-16 20:57:46

In answer to your question, grannylyn, here's my take (read it quickly as it will probably be deleted but I'm keeping a copy so I can always send it to anyone interested if they ask): I think that because of the small size of the team at GNHQ (Mumsnet's poor relation) they really haven't the time (and possibly not the inclination either, for which I wouldn’t blame them) to be doing actual moderating and poor Jingle has been kicked out because it's the easiest option and because it shuts up the anti-Jingle hyenas moaners who kept reporting her posts.

obieone Sat 08-Oct-16 20:53:01

yeah right
you know and I know

Jessielovestuna1 Sat 08-Oct-16 20:51:22

Wot are you on about obi?

Ana Sat 08-Oct-16 20:50:02

Blimey, I think they let themselves down! hmm

obieone Sat 08-Oct-16 20:49:17

I presume he didnt rate truth?

Jessielovestuna1 Sat 08-Oct-16 20:45:40

He was considered to be of a high IQ but really he was only average/high, probably around 114. He was only 5.2, but his high opinion of himself got him caught out in the end.

I believe he is 81 now. As I said nothing to do with this thread, but he let his followers down in the end.

Ana Sat 08-Oct-16 20:37:33

Never mind, JLT, you managed to get back in!

Mere mention of Charles Manson gives me the creeps...

grannylyn65 Sat 08-Oct-16 20:33:36

But where is jings, I miss her acerbity !!

Jessielovestuna1 Sat 08-Oct-16 20:30:40

I can't believe I lost my account because I didn't want updates grrr.

I am watching a documentary on netflix about Charles Manson and how he manipulated his followers. Nothing to do with this thread... just saying.

wot Sat 08-Oct-16 17:57:02

Don't worry, it's just me being over sensitive!
