How does GN work?

I am expecting this post, probably the thread, to be deleted by GNHQ but while I have a possible opening here goes.

I have over the past few days been called a racist, a bully, should be ashamed of myself, know how to play semantic games, a past master of drawing fine lines between what I say and what I mean and what some other posters think I mean.

So my question is:- How does Gransnet work ?

Time line:-
A poster withdraws a post which called a poster a racist, subsequently reposts what she said but it is not the 'exact' words and 'changed' to make it look as though it was not a direct accusation.

The poster called a racist reposts the 'actual' words to show the truth but is reported and called shameful, a bully and a racist AGAIN!

Outcome, the original post which was withdrawn by a poster has been altered at a later date but remains on the thread, an untruth. The poster to whom the original post and subsequent untruthful post was made to has her post deleted why, because she wrote the truth using ' factual' content.

If you delete this post GNHQ I will be disgusted in the whole process and the ease with which you can allow a poster to be shabbily treated and worst of all not even allowed to defend their own reputation against being called a bully and a racist.

It appears to me the process of deleting posts causes more harm than good but in the wrong direction. It allows nasty,
Vile comments to be seen before removal but the offended party has ' absolutely no way of defending themselves'.

I am sorry but I wonder if the word 'enabler' is not a fair word to use as the balance of power remains with poster/posters who have attacked, continue to attack the poor b----r trying desperately to use 'factual information' for others to see.

Shame on me, I don't think so!

Shame on those who get you to delete anything and everything that can clearly prove their words .

PLEASE LEAVE POSTS IN SITU FOR OTHER POSTERS TO ASSESS FOR THEMSELVES WHAT HAPPENED.

Not sure bullying will cut any ice. It doesn't with me.

All I can comment on really is personal experience. I have had a post removed because it contained a slightly controversial joke (can't even remember it now but it was about the Saville revelations). I complained and was told it was taken down at a weekend by a GNHQ staff member who was being over cautious. I then had a post removed because it accused someone of right wing sympathies, I reposted it removing the name of the organisation I had mentioned and it stayed there.
So I think that deletion is quite arbitrary. It depends on the member of staff working that day, how willing they are to take a chance, if they receive a complaint, how willing they are to look at the post and how good their understanding of English is. (in my case understanding sympathies were not the same as membership)
On the whole I think GNHQ would be better to stay out of it unless a post is actually libelous or contains only offensive language in which case they are entitled to remove it. We are all grown ups FGS

I think the removal of posts by GNHQ does appear to be abitrary - and more consistency should be applied if they are going to do it at all.

As a sister site of MN there do seem to be different rules applied to GN than MN which is puzzling.

I do wonder about the quality of monitoring as one member could be taunted beyond endurance by another poster until they may retaliate with a swear word - the one using the swear word has the post deleted, is banned, seemingly for ever, but the one doing the taunting is allowed to continue, taunting others and perhaps very cleverly staying just within supposed guidelines.

Some posters seem unable to read a post and understand what the poster is saying, they then put their own interpretation, prejudices and views on to it and completely misinterpret (deliberately or otherwise) what the original poster was saying and the level of debate plummets into accusations and name-calling by people who claim that they are more intelligent, compassionate and thoughtful than others.

The lack of self-awareness of some posters is quite astonishing.

I expect this will get deleted [!]
