What have I done?

Help please! I seem to have lost the green shading of subsequent posts by the OP and of my own on a thread. I find this really useful and can't think what I've done to make it disappear sad

I am wondering about this. I've just posted two messages (from my laptop, old Windows) on another thread and while I typed them in an ordinary white box they have both come up on the page in green!
Not awfully keen on green - they're drawing attention to themselves in much too showy a fashion. When I click this I'm wondering what will happen.

Me too, I was missing the green background to the OP. On mobile and tablet the blue background for own posts is a help, too.

In fact, I find the scrolling up and down to find a post which either I have written myself, or which someone refers to at a later date very annoying.

On another forum I have been on sind 2000, which has been going since 1999, we have a side bar on each conversation, listing the posters, so if you want to refer back to a previous post, you just have to click on that, and are taken there immediately. On Gransnet, which must be much newer than 2000, it's far more complicated, and by the time you've found what you were looking for, you've forgotten why you were looking for it.

Curiouser and curiouser! I now have pale blue shading to my OP on page 2 - not on the original post, just the subsequent header repeat. And I'm still on my laptop. And I've just checked threads started by other GNers - the same thing has happened there. They've gone from green OP on every page last week to no colour at the weekend to pale blue now on every page except the first! Subsequent posts by the OP in the body of the thread are still colourless though.

I am totally tchconfused

I don't get any colours on my iPad or my laptop apart from the admins posts which are green

Indinana Sun 11-Dec-16 22:26:18

MN has the OP's subsequent posts highlighted in one colour and one's own posts highlighted in another. So I don't understand why it might be tricky to have the same on GN confused

Swanny Sun 11-Dec-16 21:58:37

LaraGransnet thanks for the info but what I don't understand is why I did have OP, and subsequent posts from that person, as well as my own posts highlighted by a sort of emerald green background on my laptop until a couple of days ago. The background of your post is more of a lime green shade

If I go to the bottom of the page on my laptop I can click on 'Mobile site' and get a different layout on screen with blue background for my OP and subsequent posts and dusty pink for yours.

I may be publicly embarassed when/if there's a simple explanation but at the moment I can't think of anything I've done differently to cause the change tchhmm

Hello. We're afraid this is a mobile addition so it will only show up when you are using your phone (or if you have the mobile site activated rather than desktop). We're not sure how tricky this will be for tech to implement onto the desktop site but we'll look into it and see what we can do.
If you are on ipads or tablets you can scroll right down to the bottom of the page and click on 'Mobile site' which might make it easier for you to read the threads.
I have the pen too Swanny! It's quite useful when writing longer bits of text on the phone.

Swanny Sun 11-Dec-16 14:34:59

nina you are so right! I just had to check to see how I did it on the mobile and if I hit the right letter at all with my finger it's a miracle. I have large fingers and often have to resort to using a special rubber-tipped pen on my mobile grin

Interestingly my posts were shaded blue when I logged in mobile gransnet ... I came back to the laptop and logged out and in again but no change sad

ninathenana Sun 11-Dec-16 11:54:37

swanny I think you'd need to be a bit of a contortionist to use finger and thumb. tchgrin D uses both thumbs as I've seen most people do. I type with just my right but am pretty quick even so.

jillyco Sun 11-Dec-16 11:39:26

Have you checked that you are still logged in to your account?

Swanny Sun 11-Dec-16 11:25:54

Thanks everyone. I've always used my laptop (Windows 10) for posting on GN so don't understand why shadings have suddenly disappeared. Reassuring though that some of you do and some don't have shading, regardless of colour. Might try the mobile but I prefer to use both hands when typing, rather than finger and thumb grin

My iPad doesn't shade my posts ?

kittylester Sun 11-Dec-16 08:45:56

Meant to grin As well!!

kittylester Sun 11-Dec-16 08:45:14

I mostly use my phone bags but it's an android. I quite happy but was just pondering - dangerous!

ninathenana Sun 11-Dec-16 08:17:37

Feeling deprived now tchsmile athough mine are coloured the op's never have been

seacliff Sun 11-Dec-16 08:16:38

Grey blue here, but sun is shiningsmile

mumofmadboys Sun 11-Dec-16 08:14:27

On my hudl OP posts are always green and my posts are blue

cornergran Sun 11-Dec-16 08:10:15

Mine were, aren't any more on the iPad. I assumed operator error!

thatbags Sun 11-Dec-16 08:06:46

as in the software of some 'devices' support colouring in and some, with inferior software don't grin grin

Easily amused, me. ?

thatbags Sun 11-Dec-16 08:05:07

try the mobile site, kitty. My posts are coloured on it wherever they appear in a thread.

Then again, perhaps it depends on one's 'device'.

kittylester Sun 11-Dec-16 07:57:33

I've never had anything for the op's subsequent posts but I would quite like to.

thatbags Sun 11-Dec-16 07:56:24

Yes, it is. The mobile site colours in one's own posts. The desktop site doesn't.

thatbags Sun 11-Dec-16 07:55:36

Could it be the difference between the mobile site and the desktop site. I'll post this and then check.

seacliff Sun 11-Dec-16 07:43:03

Same here Kitty

kittylester Sun 11-Dec-16 07:40:25

My phone does but my lap top doesn't, if that helps.
