Don't understand what this is, seems like an extension of the kitchen

LucyGransnet (GNHQ) Wed 01-Feb-17 11:34:54

Hello all, the remaining problems should be fixed in the next few minutes.

Christinefrance Tue 31-Jan-17 19:44:55

Had a quick count, there are 5 Gransnet cafe threads discounting this one and 7 word games on the active list.

Christinefrance Tue 31-Jan-17 19:32:50

Exactly my thoughts Merlotgran, seems to be heading that way.

Cherrytree59 Tue 31-Jan-17 18:51:13

Shouldn't Grandad's Shed also be moved if the kitchen has been
re homed?
Maybe into the cafe garden
In the aid of equality & all thatgrin

cornergran Tue 31-Jan-17 18:36:28

When I looked a few minutes ago scoops kitchen was still not visible in last hour or last day. I'm also bewildered. Isn't there something about if it ain't broke don't fix it?

Ana Tue 31-Jan-17 18:16:14

Plus a couple of the more contentious political threads? grin

merlotgran Tue 31-Jan-17 18:14:06

How long before the Active List only consists of Word Games and Gransnet Café threads?

kittylester Tue 31-Jan-17 18:09:35

It seems to be a bit bewildering to me. Remember, GN, that we are poor little old ladies and gents who get easily confused. Well, as far this is concerned we are! On other occasions we are not, repeat not, little old ladies and gents etc and you treat us as such at your peril!!

NanaandGrampy Tue 31-Jan-17 17:38:46

I didn't jump on you Merlotgran , I thought I was quite polite but if I touched a nerve I apologise .

I'm sorry, I thought the shortbread remark referrred to the kitchen . I'd offer you ? but it's not your thing smile

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 31-Jan-17 15:36:36

Looking into this now

shysal Tue 31-Jan-17 15:16:36

GNHQ, the café threads may have been returned to 'Active', but they don't appear on 'Last Hour' or 'Last Day' and disappeared from my 'Watched' list to!

Charleygirl Tue 31-Jan-17 15:04:51

I meant to add that I could not agree more!!!

Charleygirl Tue 31-Jan-17 15:04:15

I could not agree Izabella, we are not in Gransnet cafe and never asked to be.

Izabella Tue 31-Jan-17 14:58:44

LucyGransnet kindly put us back in the kitchen again. We did not ask to be evicted and placed elsewhere. Thank you.

merlotgran Tue 31-Jan-17 14:08:53

We have a new space on the forums, one we have set up for anyone to pop in for a cuppa with some virtual friends

No need to jump on me, N&G. I totally get what Soop's Kitchen is about.

My comment about virtual shortbread and hot chocolate refers to the above description of the forum.

I still think it's pointless.

Christinefrance Tue 31-Jan-17 13:10:41

Still seems like overkill to me. I'm with you trisher, there are other places to be nice in smile

LucyGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 31-Jan-17 13:10:09

Ok, may take a few minutes, but those threads will be back in active shortly!

LucyGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 31-Jan-17 12:55:10

Hmm, no they should be showing in active as well - that shouldn't have changed. We'll get tech to fix this.

Greyduster Tue 31-Jan-17 12:39:46

Is there not a danger that it would change the nature of some threads? For example, soop's kitchen, which has a certain tenor that most of the Kitcheners may not wish to see unbalanced. New kitcheners by all means, but there are plenty of places for people to go for advice on gransnet. It works well as it is. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, IMHO.

Ana Tue 31-Jan-17 12:32:19

You're right - and Good Morning Tuesday seems to be only accessible via the Gransnet Café forum.

LucyGransnet this can't be what was meant to happen, surely?

MawBroon Tue 31-Jan-17 12:25:31

No, no, no!!
I am not seeing Soop's Kitchen on Active conversations unless I go,to Gransnet Café first sad
Maybe I need to go to Spec savers???
This seems unnecessarily complicated.

wot Tue 31-Jan-17 12:18:55

I can see the sense in it now!

NanaandGrampy Tue 31-Jan-17 12:09:24

That's good Ana I would miss the tales of everyday life smile

I like the idea of the café - just not sure how/who will populate it - Ill look forward to seeing what happens.

LucyGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 31-Jan-17 12:04:53

Morning everyone,

The Gransnet Cafe in question is a new topic under which people can come to get advice, or find someone to talk to. We've launched it in association with the Jo Cox Loneliness Commission (which also launched today). It's not a sponsored topic, just part of a campaign to end loneliness, which Jo Cox was committed to before her death.

Of course, all the usual topics are still here on the forums, robust debate and all, and this is in no way an attempt to make anyone behave themselves grin However, this single topic is designed to be an easygoing, non-judgmental place. This morning, we added a couple of existing threads of that nature (ex. Soop's Kitchen) to the cafe because they fit in well here - but at the same time, it wasn't created specifically for those threads. It's simply an umbrella ethos for them to sit under, and we hope they'll be joined by lots more threads of the same ilk as they are started by our users.

Ana Tue 31-Jan-17 12:02:50

Don't worry NanaandGrampy, 'Soop's Kitchen' is still on the Active list as well - which is why this café idea seems a bit daft to me...has it really been thought through?
