Is this space the forum cafe or kitchen? I am very confused.
I do enjoy particularly reading in Brooms remarks. Love the name too

I like the idea of the cafe and can totally see the purpose. Some of the comments above sort of says it all. And most are regular and confident posters. No offence meant but felt I had to post something.

Hoping it doesn't detract from the purpose of being supportive and upbeat to those who do welcome it.

Hi all! The point of the cafe, as the explanation at the top says, is to offer a space where anyone who would like some virtual company can come without worrying about not receiving a welcome or that they are going to get embroiled in one of our more heated discussions.

The voucher mentioned earlier is for someone who completes our survey on loneliness - it's nothing to do with the cafe or posting within. Hope that clarifies.

Totally agree with ffinnochio's every word. smile
Suits some and not others.

Ana. Thank you

Flipping heck I missed that entire thread and I don't miss a lot grin

To be honest even reading that explanation still leaves me pondering as to why it's a) it's required. b) what purpose it serves but at least I know I am not alone.

Why not just a thread 'are you lonely' under Chat or Relationships.? Hey ho , not a big deal I will b----r off now.

I think the point about this forum is to do with coping with loneliness. Chatting about whatever in an easy environment. Seems quite straightforward to me. Might be just the thing for many, or not so much for some. Good to have an option.

I think when the current Soop's Kitchen thread reaches capacity Soop should start the new one in Politics.

I wonder how long it will take HQ to put it back where they think it belongs? grin

I'll put my wooden spoon away now.

Well, it's supposed to be a 'safe haven' innit? But already the political threads in the Cafe are looking a bit...not safe.

Bewildered.

POGS here is the explanation from GNHQ

As someone said at the time the Cafe was installed, some new posters would possibly be expecting it to be a chatroom, which of course it isn't.

Must be a bit disconcerting to find they've actually started a new thread and it's not only in the Cafe but on the Active list! hmm

You are not alone POGS. grin I'm bewildered too. And, how did all the people who posted in the first couple of days know about it? And, are they still with us? confused

Somebody please explain to me why I am missing 'something'.

I don't understand the concept of Gransnet Cafe?

Is it permanent?

Is it asking and receiving posts to be able to have the chance of winning £100.

What can be said on there that cannot happen on other threads such as Chat, News and Politics?

Is it 'hoped' for it to be a place of hormony between posters. If so what happens if and when that 'hope' breaks down.

I must be missing something and genuinely interested to understand the concept and difference to threads already there. Just musing certainly not challenging it being a forum. I realise I may be alone in my thought but perhaps somebody will 'politely' set me straight please.
