strikethrough

Will someone please tell me how to do a strikethrough.

I've tried the hyphen, the little wavy hyphen, done them singly and as doubles because I can't make out clearly on the instructions exactly which 'key' to use, and whether it is a single or a double.

Did everything I could think of using the Preview to check... I'm a strikethrough failure....

Double hyphen before and after. The trick is no spaces.
