These seem to be getting more complicated and longer, possibly because the simpler ones are all taken hmm a couple I have to check the spelling each time.. I'm not moaning but am wondering if people think it's reasonable to shorten site names where possible. Or would some of you be miffed ?

I am more than happy to be nina

Yes anything to make life easier, I am happy with Christine or CF.
May I book a room then BB ?

It is quite usual to shorten names on other forums, as long as it's clear who is meant. How do the names get into bold letters? Do you all put a * in front, or is it automatic? And, if so, how come in the previous post by Grannyactivist or GA are both those names in bold print?

grannyactivist Fri 05-Jan-18 18:30:41

I'm often referred to as either GA or GrannyA and am happy to be called whatever people choose. smile

gillybob Fri 05-Jan-18 18:12:22

Happy to be Gilly ( it’s what my dear late grandma called me my whole life ) smile

BlueBelle Fri 05-Jan-18 13:38:32

I m usually BB and that’s fine by me just don’t put an ‘and’ in the middle

Cherry smile, I was also wondering where Roses was.
She was last in the Argy Bargy Café in mid-August, so hope just on holiday. I miss her posts.

Cherrytree59 Tue 05-Sept-17 08:42:21

Talking of names I often shorten Rosesarered to Roses
But I haven't seen a post from Roses lately.
Could be on holiday.sunshine

Anya smile

It's a lovely name in RL

Eloethan Mon 04-Sept-17 23:53:42

I don't mind.

Scribbles Mon 04-Sept-17 22:58:08

Wretched predictive text! My abbreviation above should have read "*Scribs"*.

Anya Mon 04-Sept-17 22:56:23

Feel free to shorten mine too.

phoenix Mon 04-Sept-17 22:38:07

Occasionally some members shorten my name to "pho" , which doesn't look right, or "sound" right, if you think about it.

Phonetically, either Fee or Phee would work, but spelling wise, just doesn't work!

Charleygirl Mon 04-Sept-17 22:32:47

I am happy to be known as Charley- I only added girl to show that I am female. Those who "know" me refer to me as that.

Moocow Mon 04-Sept-17 21:36:14

Please don't call me "cow" grin

hildajenniJ Mon 04-Sept-17 21:04:28

I could' nt think of a good username when I joined, so I used the first part of my email address. I'd quite happily be hjj. I know they are only letters but it will save confusion with HildaW.

MissAdventure Mon 04-Sept-17 21:00:02

I'm not worried what people shorten mine to. Miss A is rather nice.

seacliff Mon 04-Sept-17 20:42:18

Well I suppose I could be Cliff !! Prefer SC though.

M0nica Mon 04-Sept-17 20:35:28

Not sure how to shorten mine. smile

DanniRae Mon 04-Sept-17 20:18:27

Just call me Danni! I am fine with that grin

Imperfect27 Mon 04-Sept-17 19:37:57

I like Imp - probably brings out the worst in me though grin.

I said on another thread today how very entertaining some usernames are. I often think ;Good on you - what a sense of humour!'

Scribbles Mon 04-Sept-17 19:06:42

In another place, I'm often referred to as Scribe and have no probs with that!

Marydoll Mon 04-Sept-17 19:01:16

I'm quite happy to be called MD, as some posters do.

baubles Mon 04-Sept-17 18:42:54

I shortened mine (from the much longer line from a song) when the shortened version was used by another poster. It made more sense.

Greyduster Mon 04-Sept-17 18:26:13

I am quite happy to be Grey - in every sense!
