lemongrove Sun 13-May-18 17:16:54

Clever old you! Sudoko and me don’t get on.grin

Anniebach Sun 13-May-18 13:25:23

Something I have never even thought of doing lemon, good grief how many threads did she have to trawl through over a three year period , I get bored but choose killer suduko ?

lemongrove Sun 13-May-18 13:10:13

I do think it’s unpleasant Annie that some are so concerned with ‘getting one over you’ that they broodingly trawl the archives for ammunition, not an attractive trait is it?
The only good reason is to look for advice, on a product or a situation, if you think it merits it.

Anniebach Sun 13-May-18 09:17:29

It really unnerved me lemon, that anyone would want to do that and they didn’t even relate to the thread topics they were re posted on.

lemongrove Sat 12-May-18 21:12:41

I agree Annie I remember that!
Why bother to look at old posts anyway, plenty of current ones to read.

Anniebach Sat 12-May-18 21:10:18

The posts of mine which were reposted were from three years ago, it was creepy that anyone could be that sad

I have rarely had any luck with the Gransnet search facility, not even managing to find threads that I started myself in the past.
Earlier today, I put in the name of the person who started the post some months ago, but the search came up with nothing. By chance, someone else has since posted on that thread, bringing it back onto the 'active' list, but without that I would not have found it again.

Seven? WOW! That is an awful lot as you say would make me feel very uneasy, sorry to read that.

Cherrytree59 Sat 12-May-18 17:04:07

If you know the posters GN name and thread type/subject then just use Google much easier than a GN search.smile

BlueBelle Sat 12-May-18 16:53:58

The search facility is really really poor if you put the name of the poster you are looking for in the search box or if you put the main words for instance ‘ diamond’ it is supposed to bring up all posts connected but it rarely does
Like others have said it doesn’t often work for me either

Anniebach Sat 12-May-18 16:36:14

Really Moocow, seven of my posts on two seperate threads !

Moocow Sat 12-May-18 16:02:11

anniebach I think this can also happen when someone is looking if a particular topic has already been discussed so maybe the person isn't looking up one poster in particular but a particular issue that interests them or they have come across while looking for something else. It has happened to me in the past and i thought maybe that's what happened, but you never know I suppose.

Anniebach Wed 11-Apr-18 10:30:41

Good grief , I must be of great interest to one poster to remember and hunt out something I said three years ago , but creepy really

Elegran Wed 11-Apr-18 10:22:11

You do it by putting the poster's name into the search box at the top of the page. Mentions of that poster's name are then listed and linked to. You can choose to sort the listings by various methods.
Actually, it doesn't list ALL mentions, and often the link just goes to the start of the conversation in which that person posted, so you still have to search right through that to find them.

Anniebach Wed 11-Apr-18 10:21:35

Last week someone posted something I posted three years ago, I have problems remembering things I posted three months ago, three years , I thought it so sad and it was taken out of context, sneaky and sad

MaluCatchu1 Wed 11-Apr-18 09:45:57

Hopefully we'll all be enlightened then when one of those who regularly comment on looking up previous posts lets us know how they do it smile.

OldMeg Wed 11-Apr-18 09:31:52

Nor for me.

janeainsworth Wed 11-Apr-18 09:29:26

Good luck with that! The search facility on GN is hopeless.
Or perhaps more accurately, I can never get it to work for me.

MaluCatchu1 Wed 11-Apr-18 09:27:07

I've seen that apparently you can look at posts that others have put on in the past but cant for the life of me find how I do this. Any help please? Thank you
