BlueBelle Sun 02-Sep-18 14:06:29

But they re not humptydumpty I use an iPad and subsequent posts do not come up in colour

Hopefully the coding is already basically in place if the OP posts are already coloured on ipads and iphones, so hopefull we PC users can look forward to this soon smile

I don't use my PC for much now Stella so it's mainly phone and tablet. All the OP subsequent posts appear in green for me.

I use a Mac laptop and OP's appear in green, mine in pinky mauve colour and GN in blue. I agree that OP's showing in green throughout would make threads easier to follow. Also the 30 day rule appeals. Could always have a referendum on that and spend the next year or so disputing the outcome grin

Lara

I do like the idea of highlighting further posts by the OP .

As for the removal of threads after a period of time I like being able to refer back to old threads so please don't meddle with GN 'search', if anything it could perhaps even be improved.

I will say the fairly new idea of highlighting our own posts in pink has proven a hit with me!

Stella1949 you don’t get any subsequent coloured posts on an iPad original in green but NO further posts by original poster are in colour

stella1949 Sun 02-Sep-18 05:17:00

LaraGransnet many thanks for that !

stella1949 Sun 02-Sep-18 05:16:17

sodapop I believe that the green appears if you are viewing on a phone or iPad. Not on a PC though. it would be nice if they came up green on all formats.

OP subsequent posts are green, mine are mauve and GN in blue.

Hello! Yes, we're looking into it. Totally agree, the OP highlight makes complete sense and hopefully won't be too much of a job. We'll let you know once we know what's happening with it. smile

Does it depend on the computer or phone that you use? I have never seen any green or other coloured posts. My own posts come up in mauve.

sodapop Sat 01-Sep-18 19:34:47

They come up in green on here stella1949

Melanieeastanglia Sat 01-Sep-18 19:19:58

30 day threads would be a good idea too please.

Melanieeastanglia Sat 01-Sep-18 19:19:32

I think this is an excellent idea.

Cherrytree59 Sat 01-Sep-18 16:51:57

Agree it would be very helpful
As would the opportunity to have 30 day threads as per MN.
Which are removed after this time and do not go onto Google.

HQ you did say you would look into this.
What is your decision?

stella1949 Sat 01-Sep-18 15:08:53

Yes, same here. Just yesterday I commented on a thread about someone who was contemplating divorce - I wrote some supportive things about how easy it is to get one, then realised later that she'd actually commented on a previous page that she'd decided against it. A coloured post would have made it much easier to realise that the conversation had changed direction !

When I occasionally look at Gransnet on my phone. OP’s subsequent posts are highlighted but I mostly use iPad, and they’re not. Surely if they can do it for one type of device, they can do for the others?

JudyJudy12 Sat 01-Sep-18 15:00:34

Good idea, I have commented before without reading a lengthy thread to find there has been an additional comment by the OP that makes my comment invalid.
Once a thread reaches 50 or so maybe it should be started again, some threads being in the hundreds lose the subject of the original post and nobody will read through 100s of posts.

stella1949 Sat 01-Sep-18 14:55:43

I've been lurking on Mumsnet and noticed that when an OP writes further posts in the course of the conversation, her posts come up in green.

I think this would be a great addition to the threads on GN - often when reading lengthy threads , you can miss the fact that the OP has added more information. Having their posts in green would make it so much more easy to get the drift of the conversation.
