Posting pictures

I m on the mobile site and don’t have any icons and don’t remember ever seeing any I just have
Images ( word not icon) then below that
Smileys to the left and Emphasis to the right again words not icons and below emphasis is Links again word

Its been so long I can't remember, but my little circle on the left has a smiley face.
I click on it and it drops down all of the emojis for me to choose from.
Maybe different depending on phone model?

I can click on the blank circles, but it won't post a picture.
A red message comes up telling me message is required, even though I've written one.

Think I know what you MisA, on my mobile
there are usually 3 circles each surrounding an emoji, a clip and another thingy?

If so, my emoji in first circle is as usual,
The next two circles at present are blank.

It's the same on my kindle fire. The emoji circle still has a smiley face, but they other two are blank. I've always been able to post a photo, even though the little circle is blank. I've never had a red message.
Still the same today, I've just tried.
