(Assuming that was a serious question) mcem - By being ordained as a priest/pastor. Taking on the wearing of distinctive robes and stoles is symbolic of taking on and being accepted into a life as a priest.
Looking for references online, I found this in an announcement that On Wednesday, April 22 from noon to 7 p.m. in Room 306 of Morgan University Center at APSU. "there will be on display a collection of at least 50 clerical stoles that were worn by ordained ministers who were defrocked. And the reason? Their sexual orientation."
It goes on to say "Clerical stoles are more than just a piece of cloth. A stole doesn't represent a denomination, even among the denominations that use stoles. Rather, it is an outward representation of someone who has made a lifelong commitment to serve God and others, to share the gospel of Jesus and to demonstrate the love and acceptance of Christianity.
"It is a privilege to wear a stole. It is a symbol of Jesus that rests on the shoulders of ministers and humanizes service to God and others. So imagine the emotional upheaval that occurs personally and professionally if a denomination strips that pastor of his ordained rights, responsibilities and privileges.
That process has a name. The word is "defrock" and it leaves a scar that lasts forever."
