Your privacy us important to us...?

Why every time i look at a different post i am being asked to accept how important my privacy is to gransnet?
I am not a techie but it appears to be some way of info gathering and advertising from different organisations. I have tried to 'reject all' by pressing the button but to no avail.
Woukd someone kindly explain in super simple terms what this is all about? And while on the subject why so many advertisements insert themselves between posts.

Silverlining, this has only cropped up of late and I might say gets on my nerves everytime I want to view a site-----up it pops and out I go with the said site unvisited.

I don't get this on my desktop. Just occasionally on ipad and phone. I think it just a techie blip. Nothing sinister.

Hi silverlining48, a few weeks ago we introduced some new tech to allow users to better manage cookies, in line with the Data Protection Act and new GDPR requirements. In plain speak, the government and the EU want you to have more control over your data (its a commodity these days) and want to limit what companies and websites like us hold on to. Some users might find this disruptive depending on the browser or device that they use or their cookie preferences. We posted about this here. The instructions and information on that thread may help you manage your preferences in a way that suits you.

Hello sarah
I looked at the info you sent but it doesn't really explain what i need to know.
I have had to push the reject option each time i look at a post it just keeps coming back. I do not want it, thats my choice. I want control and to limit advertisers gaining knowledge about me and my interests.
So how do i go about doing this, or shoukd i just leave gransnet?

If you access GN via Chrome it may help.
I found it stopped the HUGE privacy notice and the orange bar along the bottom encouraging readers to join GN. I use a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
