Troll hunting and thread deletions

Hello
We wanted to clear a few things up:
1) We don't allow troll hunting on the forums. If you are worried someone may not be genuine, please email us directly or report any concerning posts to us. We will deal with it. Making accusations on the forums is not helpful and could, if incorrect, lead to possibly vulnerable people feeling victimised. We will have to delete threads that accuse other users of being trolls.
2) PMs. We take a very dim view of this being abused. If you receive an unwanted or unkind PM please report it to us. We can take a look and deal with it. You are also able to block other users so that they are no longer able to PM you. Please use this. And apologies in advance if this does happen to you. It's not nice and not what Gransnet is about at all.
3) Despite what it feels like tonight hmm we do not enjoy deleting threads. We have a handful of guidelines, all there with the purpose of making the threads better, and more welcoming for users. We are doing our best and rely on you to report things to us that seem concerning, so thank you for caring so much about the site and reporting anything that looks suspicious.

Thank you
GNHQ

This is the real deal in sock puppets. Lamb Chop and her personal handmaiden, Shari Lewis.

Callistemon Thu 20-Aug-20 21:06:41

And Soo?

No, not Sooty. Sorry.

MawB2 Thu 20-Aug-20 21:03:12

Last I heard Sooty and Sweep were booked to appear at a famous gay bar in Blackpool, or am I confusing them with somebody else?

Callistemon Thu 20-Aug-20 20:36:11

Oh!

So sorry, Soo
(Glamourpuss)

Marydoll Thu 20-Aug-20 20:35:43

Very clever, wink

Urmstongran Thu 20-Aug-20 20:32:00

It’s Soo.
?

Marydoll Thu 20-Aug-20 20:00:33

nope, I had a day out of the house yesterday, no GN, no PMs

Are you Sue in disguise? All panda eyes and glamorous?.

Callistemon Thu 20-Aug-20 19:53:13

It's so debilitating

GillT57 Thu 20-Aug-20 19:52:57

Thanks for the quick info Lucca, and in case anyone thinks I was one of the ones who have obeyed the order to f$$$ off.....nope, I had a day out of the house yesterday, no GN, no PMs.......darn it, I always miss the drama!!

Marydoll Thu 20-Aug-20 19:52:17

It's not fair is it? ? Everyone appears to be younger and more glamorous (and thinner) than me! sad

Callistemon Thu 20-Aug-20 19:50:16

Don't like Sue
She's younger than me and glamorous.

Callistemon Thu 20-Aug-20 19:48:46

grin

Red card, confined to the attic.

We did go to see Geoffrey, Zippy, George and Bungle

Marydoll Thu 20-Aug-20 19:47:38

I'm not really worried about Sooty and Sweep. IMO it's that devious Sue, who is worth the watching. Too sweet to be wholesome. That's the type to watch.wink

phoenix Thu 20-Aug-20 19:36:23

So, getting back to the topic in question, are Sooty and Sweep (or whoever) trolls/not who they seem to be, and have they had a yellow card or a red one?

BTW, this is what they look like naked ?

grin

I made that mistake when I took my grandchildren to the circus last year. Sat in front row seats. I was prime target for the clowns giant water pistols and every other trick that needed a victim. The kids thought it was hilarious

Callistemon Wed 19-Aug-20 23:19:25

Oh, how wonderful.

I'll never know what happened to my Sooty C1950s, my mother was always having clear outs.

Chewbacca Wed 19-Aug-20 23:19:11

Helpful tip Grannynannywanny never sit in the front row of a Sooty and Sweep show wink

Grannynannywanny Wed 19-Aug-20 23:16:14

Chewbacca thanks for the water pistol tip. I might add one to my bag of tricks.

Chewbacca Wed 19-Aug-20 23:12:56

Well, I've met Sooty and Sweep in the flesh! grin And I recieved an email from them to thank me for going to see them! I took DGD to see them at a local theatre and she was invited up on stage to sit with them whilst they did their magic tricks (which got her a drenching from their water pistols!). Good fun!

Callistemon Wed 19-Aug-20 23:08:36

Sooty is ever so naughty but he's not unkind!

MawB2 Wed 19-Aug-20 23:06:04

Grannynannywanny ??

I’m relatively new to GN since the start of lockdown and I have to say it’s been a great place to hang out. It’s lifted my spirits on some pretty bleak days. I’ve been reduced to tears of laughter at times. I don’t post a lot mainly because I’ve not got much interesting to say. I’m sure I’m not the only lurker who appreciates the camaraderie on here.

I can sense a sadness here today amongst many of the usually upbeat regulars and I feel for you. Chin up and carry on.

And please don’t malign Sooty and Sweep too much as I’ve just reconnected with them in recent weeks! I bought the 2 glove puppets during lockdown for my window visits to a dearly loved one in a learning disability unit who’s been in lockdown since March. It’s very difficult to hold his attention through a window and I perform a puppet show with Sooty and Sweep to try to lift his spirits!

phoenix Wed 19-Aug-20 22:42:48

I'll second that!

Chewbacca Wed 19-Aug-20 21:40:51

Thankfully there always seem to be gransnetters who step in so to speak when someone is being unpleasant. ?

Yes Dorset I've seen that happen several times lately too and it's been heartening to see that suddenly, posters step forward and give support; completely unbidden, and it's good to see kindness prevailing.
