There's a thread about these new flying video ads already but it's a site construction problem. My guess is it was not tested properly. What's the point of ads that block the forums? If your traffic drops because of them your advertising revenue will drop. Can you get them under control please? Seems to be a desktop problem.

I feel quite neglected I haven’t got anything popping up but
I ve got no extra blockers or anything So what have you all done that I haven’t ?

Hello, sorry to hear about this,

Can you let us know:
1. Which device you are using?
2.Which browser you are using?
3. How the ads affect your use of the site.

Millie

Safari on IPad with pop up blocker on.
Constant flying ads bottom right - can't read the posts and so annoying I go away

i am also sick of the adds coming up on the bottom corner of my screen, unless i close the add, it comes all the way to the top and i can't see the forums, starting to put me off coming onto gransnet.

I find that the Brave web browser gets rid of them and most web sites become much more usable without all the flashy adverts, but do you really want to force people to have to use an ad blocking browser as you will then loose your revenue.

Shinamae Sat 20-Nov-21 20:21:03

This one is constant….?‍♀️…they must think I’m a young man ?

Bluebellwould Sat 20-Nov-21 18:57:55

I use an iPad and they have started popping up in the last week. I use chrome and an ad blocker but they are popping up and covering forums too.

BlueBelle Sat 20-Nov-21 18:35:36

So can’t be anything to do with the item used or the browser as Shinamae is the same as me she has problems and I don’t

BlueBelle Sat 20-Nov-21 18:33:54

They affect my using of the site because they are very dam annoying…

Shinamae Sat 20-Nov-21 18:32:50

Yes very recent and very annoying I am on an iPad mini with a safari browser I think it or it may be Google..?

Shinamae Sat 20-Nov-21 18:32:05

My latest offering ?

Marydoll Sat 20-Nov-21 18:03:15

I second that, Calistemon!

Chrome on Windows10 PC

Chrome on Samsung Galaxy Tablet

Chrome on a Samsung Phone

Calistemon Sat 20-Nov-21 17:49:17

It has only happened recently and has happened to several of us on different devices so I do not think our browsers, devices or we ourselves are at fault.

Large, loud, intrusive and extremely annoying.

Calistemon Sat 20-Nov-21 17:45:09

I've checked settings but it says ads are blocked on some sites.

But not on here.

Katie59 Sat 20-Nov-21 17:44:42

I’m also using “Duck and Go” browser not Google dont get many ads

Katie59 Sat 20-Nov-21 17:38:48

Settings - Safari - click on “pop up blocker”

See if that helps

Another one here, driven mad. They are no problem on my PC, but block the text box on my Samsung tablet, so I can't type! Totally defeats the purpuse of having a forum, when you can't post. ?

I am going to report the thread and ask HQ to have a look.

eazybee Sat 20-Nov-21 17:21:28

I am constantly receiving one about a wonder product to remove odours from a sink and I will not buy it or any other products this company makes, ever. It has appeared three times as I type.

Shrub Sat 20-Nov-21 16:55:40

I have Adblock plus on my laptop and my Ipad. I never have any problems with it and no irritating adverts or popups. From what you are all describing, I wouldn't be without it. Maybe it depends which newspapers you read!

Shinamae Sat 20-Nov-21 16:19:36

Urmstongran

I get them on my iPad. Continuously. They are a bluddy nuisance.

Me too!! ?

Tizliz Sat 20-Nov-21 16:18:13

I would prefer that Gransnet took notice of their customer base rather than force us to install ad blockers. These are a nuisance when you want to read newspapers etc as then you have to turn them off.

welbeck Sat 20-Nov-21 16:17:40

i find the imagery disgusting and repulsive, for a particular product which is the only one that appears, for about a week now.
i would not buy that brand now on principal, even if i needed that type of product. the imagery upsets me.
apart from the annoyance of the adverts being intrusive.

Katie59 Sat 20-Nov-21 16:13:20

I dont get them on the IPad those that do probably need to update IOS or switch the Ad blocker on.

glammanana Sat 20-Nov-21 11:44:05

felice

The last one I had was full of flashing lights quite dangerous if you have epilepsy, I could not find a way to get rid of it.
I do not have epilepsy but x hubby does so I know the risks.

Here Here !!! please do something about it GNHQ.
