Every time I type a post, I move from the message box to check it out and hit an advert which takes over and directs me elsewhere.

I'm too fed up to continue at the moment, but I will try and post this before the clutter gets me.

MissAdventure Fri 04-Nov-22 10:30:57

As I click one off, another pops up.

Blinko Fri 04-Nov-22 10:30:10

I'd like to know how long this annoying 'trial' will last. Do GNHQ actually take a blind bit of notice of what its readers/members think?

I'm particularly irritated by the video clips that appear in the main discussion stream. I never actually look at them, they serve no purpose at all other than to annoy.

Please come back @gransnet and solve this.

PLEASE can you fix this issue?
It's the ONLY site I use with this problem.
Thanks

It’s not ‘a problem’
They are doing it on purpose.
It’s a trial. They have said so

Well, they can keep their new form of adverts as far as I am concerned. Most annoying, and more likely to put me off buying from the advertiser than to encourage me. Definitely counter-productive.

It seems fairly pointless to continue with a trial of a process which is clearly annoying members; the only positive comments come from those whose access to Gransnet does not receive these ridiculous advertisements.

MissAdventure Wed 02-Nov-22 11:56:25

As soon as I click one off, another takes its place.

Hi all - thanks for your feedback - we're certainly discussing this at GNHQ. As Lily said on the other thread, this is something we're trialling. You can't click off the advert that appears in the middle of the thread, but you can close the video on the bottom right by clicking the X button.

Annie wrote that on 22nd October. How long does a trial last? Nothing has changed.

No problem on ipad

I think they want to move us over to mumsnet and close gransnet altogether

Nudge theory in practice again?

MissAdventure Wed 19-Oct-22 17:40:18

I can't see well enough to use the desk top.
It's much smaller font, and my fingers are a bit useless.

MissAdventure Wed 19-Oct-22 17:38:55

The ads make my phone screen judder and sometimes turn blank.

It'll probably be the death knell for it, soon.

silverlining48 Wed 19-Oct-22 17:36:46

My eyes have glazed over with your second sentence bluebelle. i use an iPad, probably getting on a bit. Not sure where to find desk top. confused.

BlueBelle Wed 19-Oct-22 17:32:00

Definitely nothing causing a problem on my iPad just as normal

Try using desktop on the iPad / iPhone that might make a difference

silverlining48 Wed 19-Oct-22 17:22:28

I don’t have the tech vocabulary, suffice to say that screen goes blank with message ‘GN needs to reload as there was a problem ‘ and it goes ‘off’ every 10 seconds! I then have to start it all over again, it’s time consuming and my patience is running out. Anyone else. .?
The ads keep getting in the way too and have to be individually turned off at the x. Til the next pops up.
I take your point Fanny. No doubt you have told them in HQ.

Is anyone reading my posts? sad
They are trialling a new format of adverts.
I know this because they have said so.
It’s not a glitch

But why use old adverts?
They're all past their sell-by date.

silverlining48 Wed 19-Oct-22 17:06:50

ASCwell as pop up ads interfering I also keep losing GN with an explanation that there is a problem loading GN and I have to start all over again, many times. I too am getting fed up with it.

FannyCornforth Wed 19-Oct-22 16:55:59

I concur. I was just trying to explain why ‘they’ aren’t in a hurry to remove the damn things

GrannyGravy13 Wed 19-Oct-22 16:47:54

It might be a trial but it’s flipping annoying

Ok on iPad only on iPhone
