My wish for 2024. Can people please be more specific with their thread titles.

No threads come up when I m on here Grannierose so no idea what you mean by algorithms
I hate the old old threads being hashed up by often a new or not often posting poster If I ever try to find an old threads to remember a detail I never can as it’s been Mooooooved
Totally irritating

I agree with kadinsky.

I actually did bring up a thread today that was a couple of months old but I thought it was relevant to me and what I wanted to say.

I don't have threads that come up when I am reading other threads.
Where am I going wrong?🤔

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 24-Dec-23 21:27:12

You only have to look at the last post to see how old the thread is - nothing to do with algorithms.

I don’t understand this complaint. I only respond to threads that come up when i am reading other threads. So it isn’t me that drags up old threads but the GN algorithm. This can be remedied by HQ.

Especially if they add advice without reading that the OP has come back with an answer.

Yes it's so annoying if you don't notice the date of the post, why do people do this ?

That’s my pet hate GSM

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 24-Dec-23 16:24:35

I agree. I also wish that people wouldn’t go trawling and dragging up threads that have been inactive for months or even years. Sometimes it’s a scammer - but by no means always.

Here it is, in case anyone wants to chime in.

It's a bit like a lucky dip isn't it? Worth a punt and if of no interest then move on.

JackyB Sun 24-Dec-23 15:54:47

But it's remembering which thread is which - every time I see "Thoughts" I think "Now what was that one about?"

I admit being guilty of starting such a thread myself recently, but I intentionally left it open. I called it "my calendar tells me.." (or something similar).

I thought people could post random things they found in their calendars for the day. It's disappeared off the bottom ofm"Active" now, so perhaps it was too vague after all.

Sometimes an explanation would make the title unwieldy. The thread entitled War started on the war in Ukraine but has broadened out to take in other wars already. All relevant. If you don’t like a thread after looking at it once, just ignore it thereafter.

Urmstongran Sun 24-Dec-23 15:05:31

I often think the same Kandinsky! I wonder if it’s done purposefully as ‘clickbait’ to get us wondering what the mystery thread might be?

Kandinsky Sun 24-Dec-23 14:56:30

Just had a flick through active conversations & there they are again.

Thread titles that are about what exactly?

Exhibit 1). Ugh - Ugh about what? Mouldy bread? Rats? Tattooed brides?

Exhibit 2 ) War - What war? WW1? The Crimean war? The Falklands war?

<sigh > it’s such a waste of time opening these threads when they could literally be about 100 different things.

Happy Christmas 🎅
