No need, I’ve just tried going into desktop mode on my phone and it worked - annoying message deleted!

Thanks for the inspiration, Theexwife.

Hurrah, it worked for me too! Although I did need a magnifying glass!

Just thee and me then, eddiecat! smile

I’ll see if my laptop does the trick next time I’m on it.

I have just tried, it worked. I am on desktop site on an ipad.

It works for both for me. Is it worth logging off and back in?
That of course is dodgy, given how temperamental GN can be.

Go to Inbox, click the small box nest to the message, which you wish to delete, then click the bin.

I have just tried it on my phone, tablet and PC and it does work.

That works for my Inbox messages, but not for the Sent ones. I'll try logging on from my laptop

Easy to do on an iPad

Your post made me look at my own msg both sent and received on Gnet.

Strangely enough earlier on this morning I also went through my emails not that I have anything private but I have started thinking if something happened to me then it is sort of "tidied up".
I have done mine on a laptop which was fine, just sent them to the delete and off they went (on gransnet that is)

Elegran Thu 12-Dec-24 08:33:10

It works on mine, I just tried it, but I am on a pc I am not usng my phone. I ticked a little box to the left of the message in the list in the Gransnet inbox (not on the message itself) then selected the bin, and it disappeared.

I’m having the same issue, eddiecat. I rarely use the private message facility, but would like to delete one conversation - as FGT says, some can be distressing to read. The “in” one just disappeared, the “out” one dustbin doesn’t work. I contacted GNHQ weeks ago but didn’t get a reply.

Private messages sent through your Gransnet inbox can be deleted - and are deleted from the recipient's Gransnet inbox too.

This is what I would like to do but, as I said, if I go to the Sent message and click on the Bin nothing happens

I keep my email 'clean' by deleting frequently. I check and delete spam box and delete the trash.

on phone I delete all texts incoming and sent also call log in and out.
have been known to delete some I should have kept a bit longer though.

Actually I’m going to delete all mine. Hundreds of them spanning 18 months of devastating anxiety over our family situation health wise. I received so many wonderful, kind and supportive p.m’s but to be honest it would distress me to re-read them now, so I shan’t. I think emptying my inbox & sent folders is best for my mental health and well being right now. It will take some serious time to clear the cache I expect.

Interesting, didn't know you could do that until I noticed one person had deleted all the messages sent to me over a long period of time.

Septimia Wed 11-Dec-24 16:51:29

You should be able to set your emails to delete sent messages after a certain period of time, then you don't need to do it yourself. Obviously quite how you go about setting them to do that depends on the system you are using. Worth have a look to see if you can find it.

eddiecat78 Wed 11-Dec-24 16:29:07

Thanks but I'm not able to select and highlight. I'm trying to do this on my phone

Imarocker Wed 11-Dec-24 16:15:21

But why bothers/

Imarocker Wed 11-Dec-24 16:15:11

You have to select and highlight them

eddiecat78 Wed 11-Dec-24 16:10:37

I'd like to delete all my messages. No particular reason, I just like to keep my online presence minimal.. For the Inbox ones I just click on the dustbin symbol and the message goes. But for the Sent ones if I click on the Dustbin nothing happens
