Notifications - tagging someone

Hello. Is there a way to tag someone in discussions or get a notification when someone replies to a comment? I can't seem to find a way to follow discussions that have many replies. Scrolling down, trying to find where I left off the last time I was logged in etc.
I can sometimes see usernames in bold or with an @username but they don't seem like actual tags. I'm new here and trying to participate in conversations, but I have no idea how I would know if someone replies.

You can 'save' your position on a thread by clicking on 'bookmark' in the bottom right hand corner of a post. When you go back to the thread it will open at your 'saved' post

Thank you Cressida. I haven't seen the bookmark option at all!

Hover your mouse arrow over the post you want to bookmark, and " bookmark" will appear. Click.

Go to the purple banner above, right hand end, and click on "More" which opens display options.

If you can’t get your posts on bookmark, find your posts on Im On
Scroll down down past the smileys list and you will see Im on
Click that and all the threads you have posted on will be there.
