Always always always take make up off at night, no matter how drunk or tired! And cleanse, tone & moisturise! So simple, but invaluable!

My mum always said.....treat your feet as you do your hands, use hand cream on both before bed and paint your nails.

A lot of the advice I got was common sense stuff. Remove all traces of make-up at the end of every day and give your face a break every now and then with a make-up-free day. Cleanse, tone and moisturise every day. Be sure to pay attention to 'unseen areas' too - nan was adamant on the importance of moisturising the neck, including the nape, elbows, knees, feet & ankles etc, she would giggle when reminding me to include boobs! Eat sensibly, get plenty of fresh air, don't overdo the sunbathing, exercise even if it's just going for a short walk or doing gardening or other outdoors tasks. I miss my nan!

My mother always told me not to over-pluck my eyebrows, and that their best shape was as close to their natural shape as possible. I didn't listen of course and now, many years and dodgy brow-dos later, I can confirm that she was completely right!

My mum encouraged me to enjoy the sun in moderation, get plenty of fresh air and exercise and eat lots of fruit and vegetables. I think it worked because she's 89 now and I'm 63!

moisturise daily to keep your skin supple and drink proper amount of water to keep your skin hydrated and have a regular sleeping regime. Don't overdo coffee and alcahol.

I have 2 grown up boys and encouraged both to use moisturiser on their face and use hand cream. They will thank me in 40 years!

My mum always told me to wear sunscreen and a sunhat

My Mum always drilled it in to me never to go to bed without washing my makeup off properly and moisturising with the correct moisturiser for my skin type. She said wear foundation as little as possible to allow your skin breathe and drink lots of water. I've followed her advice and I'm glad I have. I'm 52 next month and people always take me for 10 years younger than I am which suits me fine.

My mum always told me to put ice cubes on my eyebrows to numb the area before using tweezers.

after reading all these ideas, why is it that so many women think that after being married for a few years they don't need to bother with there appearance...I know of many women that I have put this question to and they all say the same when answering....I don't need to do all that stuff now.no make up, not interested in appearance. And they walk around looking dull and drab, then wonder why there men are looking at other women and its usually women who have made an effort to look after there selves.

Always moisturise your skin night and morning, to clean out all of my pores, stuck by this and I must say never had a problem with spots or acne.

My one and only would be. If you have dry skin make sure from an early age to moisterize your skin everyday till the day you die. You won't regret it as ive been doing it for over 30yrs now and my skin is so lovely and soft.

My maternal grandmother said never dig the dirt out from under your nails with a file. This would damage the nail and increase the space under it for the dirt to stay. Use a nail brush.

Her daughter my mother, did not use nail polish but buffed her nails with carnation nail polish and a buffer covered in chammy leather.

I take a vitimain preparation for nails and skin. I oil my nails each night.

My Mother never used anything but Ponds Cold Cream on her face and neck and never, never sat out in the sun! I have tried all sorts of different products on my face and neck but my skin still looks older at 68 than my Mother's did when she died at 93! Mind you, I do (and always have) sat out in the sun. I really should have listened to her!

My mother used to smother her face in Nivea......a long time before lovely products like L'Oreal became available. She always told me to concentrate on my neck as it was the first sign of ageing!

Always wash in rainwater its much softer and keep sskin looking fresh, my brother asked me what I used to keep my skin looking so soft and was amazed thinking I spent a fortune on beauty products!
