We all know that beneath every mild-mannered gransnetter lies the spirit of a younger, and perhaps wilder you - so we're asking what thing from your past your family or friends might be surprised at.

Whether it was that short stint as a rock groupie, being arrested on a CND rally, or even sporting a punk haircut and being expelled from school for it - L'Oreal would love to hear about them.

Take a look at L'Oreal's video and see what other surprises people have in their pasts:

A bunch of us crazy Hippies in the early 70s decided to strip naked and do snow angels in field on the way home.It was very funny for about 3 minutes, then it became quite clear, quite fast, that it was not a very good idea.It sobered us up real quick i can tell ya.

I don't have anything along those lines, health issues meant long episodes of my life have been stuck at home, but maybe I'll get my chance to do something some day.

elodie17 Fri 15-May-15 11:05:50

i ran away from school and spent the day in a field before going back for the school bus!

Daft as it sounds, I used to be able to stand on my head, my husband has photos from our teenage days.
The grand children often ask who that is!!

emziemay Fri 15-May-15 09:26:20

I think my children would be very shocked if they saw how I used to dress and hairstyle as I went off to see punk groups every week!

aligiraffe Thu 14-May-15 23:51:46

I've never done anything that would shock my children - I've lead a really sedate life!

chezvic Thu 14-May-15 23:43:32

I was sent home from school for having a too trendy 'stepped shaved' hairstyle. I'm so quiet normally that she'd never believe it or that I was a trendsetter

Getting arrested for bring Drunk & disorderly when i was younger

cathyov Thu 14-May-15 21:11:41

Many a night at university I had way too much to drink - there again don't remember much about them so cannot share it with them!

Errm, where to start...?
Snogged a well know punk idol,
Pierced my own ears when drunk- on 4 different occasions,
Bunked off school with mates a couple of times, but ALWAYs got caught and got the blame for instigating it!
Smoked at the top of the school field,
Got arrested for shoplifting,
"Asked to leave" my girls' grammar school, (They know about this and are indignant at the injustice, especially compared to what goes on nowadays!)
However, I did NOT have a bunk-up round the back of the village hall with Kim's boyfriend. He followed me out & tried his luck, but when he got the brush-off, he wouldn't admit it to his mates & lied he'd got his oats! Pratt then realised it would get back to Kim, so confessed rather than lose face. Idiot!

My grandchildren already know and are quite proud that their grandma used to be a professional wrestler.

cheryl100 Thu 14-May-15 20:10:33

When I holidayed in Ibiza, my friend and I spent our money too fast and ended up with £20 to last for 2 days....we had to snog (do kids even use that word now?!) boys to get drinks! I cringe thinking about it!

Soon after my first date with my daughters' dad Bill (later my husband), I was asked out by another boy I'd had my eye on for a while. I decided to go out with him to see which boy I really wanted to be with, but being only 16, I told a stupid lie - I said I couldn't meet him that night as I'd broken my arm by falling out of bed! He believed me! I did come clean and tell him the truth after we had been going out together for a few months, and I never cheated on him again.

I was thrown out of a pub once smile

kpdchudleigh Thu 14-May-15 18:28:57

It's no wonder I was expelled from grammar school; I once skipped lessons and was hitch-hiking out of town when a car driven by my biology teacher pulled up and she ordered me to get in before taking me back to school. I'd be mortified if either of my daughters got into such a scrape.

angiehoggett Thu 14-May-15 08:33:23

I was an accessory to a stolen can of pop that my cousin stole, I felt so guilty afterwards though and it wasn't even me, haha!

goose1964 Thu 14-May-15 08:22:28

that I went to Reading Rock & walked around wearing only a leather waistcoat & a pair of cut offs

liane1987 Wed 13-May-15 09:50:47

swilsonleach1 Tue 12-May-15 16:55:25

very drunk when i was alot younger and fell asleep in bus stop walking home

Penstemmon Mon 11-May-15 23:28:24

Oh dear.. why are people in a huff??

The thing that shocks my DDs is that at boarding school the level of personal hygiene was so poor: one pair of knickers a week, a bath once a week and hairwash fortnightly. However we did get told off if matron found a stray hair left in your hairbrush confused

janeainsworth Mon 11-May-15 23:13:16

Didn't it get a bit boring after a while? hmm

Carolespr Mon 11-May-15 17:44:19

I was a child of the 60's and slept with over 200 men in my younger days, including sports & pop stars - didn't see why men should have all the fun!

Soutra Mon 11-May-15 13:32:40

Then please don't bite MY head off.
