We all know that beneath every mild-mannered gransnetter lies the spirit of a younger, and perhaps wilder you - so we're asking what thing from your past your family or friends might be surprised at.

Whether it was that short stint as a rock groupie, being arrested on a CND rally, or even sporting a punk haircut and being expelled from school for it - L'Oreal would love to hear about them.

Take a look at L'Oreal's video and see what other surprises people have in their pasts:

Everyone who adds a comment to this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a fabulous goodie bag full of L'Oreal must-haves worth £200.

I had to tell my daughters that I'd smoked weed because I had an allergic reaction to it and was worried they'd have the same allergy.

nightowl Fri 01-May-15 13:56:23

Why do L'Oreal want to know this? Are they trying to convince us they actually care?

Dottyhols Fri 01-May-15 14:08:44

I once went topless in Spain! That would shock them as I'm such a prude.

A neighbor was fixing his car and had leaked black oil on the pavement. Me and my youngest brother(Aged 4 and 6) were playing out. We stepped in the oil and made oily footprints all over the pavement.

I got thrown in a Police Wagon in France aged 15, we went in a day trip with the school. A bunch of lads we were with starting fighting with some French boys and the Police pulled up and put us in the van and then put us in a cell. The teachers had to come and get us out, I actually didnt do anything just in the wrong place, I am a respectable person with a husband and 3 kids and have never been in any trouble ever. My kids would be so shocked if they knew!

I used to change the wording of the safety messages on the train to school.

DO NOT LEAN OUT OF THE WINDOWS

became

DO NOT CLEAN SOOT OFF THE WINDOWS

What wanton vandalism!

I'm sorry, but there's no way I am going to tell you where I have hidden the bodies, let alone tell the DCs.

I told my tutor at college that my friend and I had to go to the hospital, because I had hurt my arm(Hairdressing course) when really we had gone shopping,,not thinking she would ring my mum to see how I was!! oops!

When I was a student nurse many years ago I went out one night got very drunk and had to be up early to do a shift. One look at the sluice and I threw up in the patients' loos! Luckily I was young enough to recover quickly and had an understanding staff nurse in charge that day to get myself sorted!!!

I used to work as an adult chatline operator smile

Springchicken123 Fri 01-May-15 14:43:02

I made love in the back of a fire engine with a hunky fireman in uniform many many years ago. Hmm lovely.

Teetime Fri 01-May-15 14:44:05

I've had my share of skirmishes in the linen cupboard.

My daughters would be surprised and shocked if they knew that I used to use my spa which is in the back garden naked late at night.

I was a horrible teenager and young adult! I used to shoplift the Pick 'N Mix from Woolworth, fake my ID to get into bars and nightclubs, get drunk on a Thursday night, (payday) stay out all night and crawl to work on the Friday Morning, puking up at regular intervals through the day, sleep in my contact lenses and full make-up, and as my dad used to say "dress like a prostitute". My love for leopard print exists to this day, but I've given up the shoplifting, binge-drinking and my cleanliness has improved! By the way, I no longer steal my best friends' boyfriends!

durhamjen Fri 01-May-15 15:07:46

Sorry, but there's no such thing as a L'oreal must have. Nestle own about 25% of the company.

joannapiano Fri 01-May-15 15:09:52

My boyfriend and I had nipped to his empty house during school lunchbreak, to do some geography revision. (In his bedroom wink)
Unfortunately his father came home from work unexpectedly, and I hid in the wardrobe for an hour until he left again
I didn't realise I had left my coat downstairs, and his Dad told him, later that day, that we were "A pair of fools".
We have, however, lasted 45 foolish years, together.

MaryXYX Fri 01-May-15 15:12:04

I was very boring and law abiding when I was young. Two weeks ago I had my first try at pole dancing. I don't mean in an exercise class - on a platform in a nightclub. I can't have been that bad because a lesbian asked my name.

annodomini Fri 01-May-15 15:14:01

Quite right dj, but at least they've extracted all these interesting confessions. No, I don't have one - I have led a blameless life... blush

Maggiemaybe Fri 01-May-15 15:19:37

Oh no, no, no!!! There are several things in my past that are staying there. I've some very happy secret memories to keep me warm in my old age, but none that I'd ever share on a public forum, let alone with the DC! smile

When my friend and i were about 14, we met two boys in the park. They offered to take us to the seaside, so must have been a lot older than us if they had a car. We stupidly got in their car and off we went. When we arrived at the seaside we decided we weren't happy in their company so we gave them the slip, and hid behind a car. We could see them searching for us for ages. Then we had the problem of how to get home with no money. We started walking, but it was 30 miles, and eventually accepted another lift from a group of young people. Fortunately we got home unscathed. I dread to think what could have happened to us!

Greenfinch Fri 01-May-15 15:23:33

I noticed many new names on this thread and then saw there was money involved and it was a competition. Enough said !
Anyway I don't really want to read about all these possibly made-up experiences and I am also with you jd. Good-bye to this thread from me hmm

TriciaF Fri 01-May-15 15:23:51

I don't know anything in my past that would shock my children - they've all done much worse things wink
The only thing that shocks one daughter (not the others), is that I'm slightly racist. blush. She tells me off about it.

nightowl Fri 01-May-15 15:32:27

I'm with you Greenfinch and durhamjen, I wish these competitions could have a separate place of their own so we didn't have to be faced with people who never usually post, boring made up stories, and worst of all the evil that is L'Oreal. I'm off.

I was forcefully removed from our local Casino and banned for life after accusing them of watering their spirits. The situation got a bit heated and I threw my drink in the Managers face.
My Daughter was with me.
