When I was a little girl, I was staying with my uncle & aunt in a caravan. Well, I wanted a wee in the night, piddled on the floor- in the morning insisted it wasn't me and Sharpy the dog got the blame. Oops!

I can't be sure but I suspect that Boheminan's reaction came from the fact that there have been several quite negative contributions on this thread and your fairly mild comment may have been construed as yet another.
I know that I started off thinking that this was a fun, light hearted thread, escapist even...much like the adverts. Indeed, I was about to add to it. Then I saw Merlotgran's comment about 'competition junkies that make no contribution to Gransnet' (sic) and decided not to, especially as it became clear that there was some support for her view.
I'd like to think that Gransnet could at least aspire to be an inclusive body, respectful of individual differences and opinions....but I guess we mirror society as a whole...

Have you never told your daughter that you lived in a squat for a few months pusinsky? Why on earth not? My children think it's hilarious that I lived in a squat for a year and got taken to court and evicted (by the GLC -happy days!). They don't think it's particularly shocking.

You could fall asleep reading some of the posts! Why on earth would anyone's children be 'shocked' by the fact that they smoked a few fags when they were a youngster, or slept through a bit of a pop festival...?

When the phone rings & unknown number comes up, my answer is I do not talk to people I do not know or give them my opinions.

I got thrown out of an Indian restaurant on Christmas Eve for dancing on the table with a waiter. Doesn't inspire sharp intakes of breath from my grown up children - I look forward to hearing (via their children) their own 'confessions' in a few years time!

I smoked once or twice when I was younger? I'm renowned for wearing my good shoes and my own mum never found out about it, so it was a shock for my daughter when I told her ;) She was also shocked and appalled at my treatment of an ex-boyfriend: he was the loveliest guy, and even I now sometimes wonder why I broke up with him. But I just wanted to end things, and instead of putting my big girl boots on I always let my mum answer the door, and told her to say I wasn't in to him so I wouldn't have to face him. He kept coming round for so long, it was weeks before he finally gave up. Not that ground breaking stuff really as like I said, I'm known for staying out of trouble, but my daughter's reactions sure show how out of character it is for me!
