Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about the laundry schedule you have in your household. Are you very particular about washing your clothes and have a load for every colour imaginable, or do you just go for lights and darks? Maybe you have assigned days for certain washes - is Sunday sheets day and Tuesday for towels? Has your laundry schedule changed a lot as you’ve got older?

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio have to say: “Fairy Non Bio is good for anyone who wants a softer, more sensitive wash (that still leaves clothes clean!). Its gentle formula promises to be kind to both your clothes and your skin, and so it’s suitable for everyone”

So, whatever your household washing schedule, post it below for a chance to win a £300 voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I just do it when it needs to be done. Usually it is everyday though.

grannysmith953 Fri 27-Jan-17 12:07:48

A schedule? How organised! I strip the beds and change the towels on a Monday but the washing gets done when it's convenient, or in the summer, when it's a good drying day!

Angelwings Fri 27-Jan-17 12:24:11

Well we have more darks than whites so that causes a problem regarding wash loads but sometimes I risk a mixed wash with a colour catcher. We also have specialised clothing that must not have fabric conditioner added to the wash so that has its own separate load too. Then there's silks and woollens separate loads for them! My washing machine is on every day, sometimes more, as soon as I empty the laundry basket it miraculously fills up again. Good job I have a tumble drier!

downingarms Fri 27-Jan-17 12:38:28

There's no specific days. When the machine has enough in I wash. Towels are once a week , bedhsheets about 10 days , duvet covers once a month.

vonniebab2 Fri 27-Jan-17 13:03:49

I always do the washing usually 3 times a week a really hot wash for whites and towels also sheets and 30 for normal clothes wash

cinders59 Fri 27-Jan-17 13:11:13

Hubby puts the washing in before he goes to work, then I take over when I get up. We do it as needed.

jayce125 Fri 27-Jan-17 14:02:28

Towels and underwear get boil washed, clothes 30 deg. Save up white bras and wash with sheets. Knitwear 30 deg. Double rinse everything. None of the machines I have had seem to have a rinse cycle which gets the detergent out in one go. Dry on airer then tumble dry next day. Do most loads before 7.30am to take advantage of half price electricity. No ironing. (Bus pants and jackets wash separately with a little disinfectant. Filthy buses and taxis.

A schedule? Surely one of the advantages of growing older/retirement is that you don't have to stick to one!
Nowadays, there's only me...so it isn't a problem. I have enough in the way of sheets, towels, clothes etc. to fit laundry in with my life, not the other way round. I don't possess a tumble dryer. I keep an eye on the local weather forecast and put a wash on when it means I can hang it outside to dry. I live on the coast, so there is the odd incontinent inconsiderate seagull to contend with. But I do love the smell of air dried bedding and towels. I've always used non bio, ever since the children were small (they're in their 40s now). Then I used powder, now the gel capsules. I tried washing everything at 40 degrees for a while, but went back to 60 degrees for towels and bedding. My guilty secret? I love ironing, especially when there's something good on the radio grin

Absolutely no 'schedule' - just put washing on as and when needed - when laundry basket is full. Sheets/towels when convenient - about once a week, but not always. Try to separate lights/darks and also do some hand-washing for delicate jumpers. I certainly don't do as much washing as I did when the children (rugby-playing etc) were at home - and I don't miss it.

Clobo Fri 27-Jan-17 14:29:39

I'm really disorganized and put it all in on a forty wash when there is enough for a machine full. I don't wear white! Oops.

Think I'll get some tips here. Xx

No set day for particular washes - just when it needs to be done. Separate washes for white/pastel, coloured, towels ans sheets. Most washes at 30. Towels at 50. Sheets at 60.

strawberrinan Fri 27-Jan-17 14:31:25

I work full time and I'm always tired so dark and light washes only - four loads a week.

srobbo71 Fri 27-Jan-17 14:36:02

I do it as and when needed, always a wash on a weekend as uniform and work gear is needed for Monday morning. I do a mixed wash with whatever detergent is on offer, I dry in the dryer and put away a couple of days later - a bit haphazard like me!

janeyjane Fri 27-Jan-17 14:43:42

We have the free fuel deal from BG so all washing & drying gets done on a Saturday. Light, darks, bedding & towels separated - all on a 30 degree wash using fairy non bio. Washing then separated again as to what can go in the dryer or not. All on the line if the day is suitable.

nancytownsend Fri 27-Jan-17 14:56:24

I do a wash most nights (we have cheaper electricity at night). Mostly 30 degrees with one Bold liquid capsule thingy and one Calgon tablet (hard water). All the colours get thrown in together and I don't seem to have had a problem with that. Towels get washed separately, but I don't have a particular day.

Lisapaige24 Fri 27-Jan-17 14:56:38

I do the Laundry everyday light wash in the morning , Dark Load at lunch time and delicates once the lights and darks have been done , Bedding every Saturday morning, Dog bedding every Saturday after all wash loads are done.

stefalfie11 Fri 27-Jan-17 15:48:42

Normally 2 loads a week one of clothes and the other of bedding, towels etc. The clothes go on 40 whereas the bedding goes on 60 degrees.

peanutmum Fri 27-Jan-17 16:28:25

I have always grouped washing according to their colour. I have darks and I like my 'whites' to stay light and no odd colours. The towels and tea towels will get the high wash at least once a month.
We invested in solar panels which means when it is 'light and/or sunny' we get free electricity. So I will wash more on those days, to take advantage.
Hardly ever hand wash or dry clean, as I always check the label.
My daughter is allergic to soap powders so never swap and dread to see the on the packet ''NEW and IMPROVED' in case she ends up in a rash.

s861421 Fri 27-Jan-17 16:50:18

No particular routine, just when there is a full load. However I try to keep towels separate, and I try to separate whites / darks

rubysong Fri 27-Jan-17 16:54:57

No dry cleaning and hardly any hand washing.
Everything at 60 degrees apart from socks, jumpers, bras which are at 40 degrees. I wash overnight, most nights and iron cotton things, bedding etc. I have used Fairy non bio since having a baby with excema, over thirty years ago. I dry outside if possible but use tumble drier most of the winter. No particular days for anything, but I try to keep darks and lights separate.

blondie123c Fri 27-Jan-17 16:56:30

I do one white wash a week, and around 8-9 dark loads. Always wash at 40, and use bio washing capsules.

headsy12 Fri 27-Jan-17 17:30:00

I wash about five times a week, all the towels and bedclothes have to be washed at 50degrees as the dog has allergies!! I wash whites, coloured and then blacks. The washing powder is whatever is on special and I never use softener.

Isobelw Fri 27-Jan-17 17:31:22

I separate the washing out into whites colours and towels. Do the washing on Thursdays and Fridays as non work days

israrbaig Fri 27-Jan-17 17:41:07

Nothing fancy - pile them up with work shirts and afew home ware items and wash them when i get home on Friday for weekend ironing.

in the summer i aim for washing on Sat morning and dry out in the sun for Sun ironing

dahlia08 Fri 27-Jan-17 17:56:05

I mostly do the washing during the weekend as it's for only 2 people. Do the towels send sheets and the other clothes go together there are not many dark colours which will run. 30 degrees setting. Most weekends or evening as they say it's cheaper at these times.
