Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about the laundry schedule you have in your household. Are you very particular about washing your clothes and have a load for every colour imaginable, or do you just go for lights and darks? Maybe you have assigned days for certain washes - is Sunday sheets day and Tuesday for towels? Has your laundry schedule changed a lot as you’ve got older?

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio have to say: “Fairy Non Bio is good for anyone who wants a softer, more sensitive wash (that still leaves clothes clean!). Its gentle formula promises to be kind to both your clothes and your skin, and so it’s suitable for everyone”

So, whatever your household washing schedule, post it below for a chance to win a £300 voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I always do one load for lights and one for darks/colours. I wash bedding and towels separately, both on a high temperature I tend to do clothing on Mondays and Thursdays, when I am at home and then everything else gets done on the weekend. I am more particular about washing bedding and towels weekly, than I was when I was younger.

We separate into dark and light and the washing machine usually goes on at least once a day.

I have no set schedule for washing as I find now the children have flown the nest, I can do it when it needs to be done.
I do however separate lights form darks and always use a colour catcher sheet smile

I am pretty routine when it comes to washing and have a rota that covers different washes for colours, darks & whites clothes plus bedding from all beds in the house and towels from the 2 bathrooms. The children's washes are done separately on Friday and Saturday each week - I like to keep their clothes separate.
I use the same programme on my washing machine, which is probably a sin - but it's worked so far!

Since DH and I downsized dramatically and inherited a very smart washing machine I have never done anything except on a 30 degree wash. I usually wash twice a week with a liquid detergent on this cycle but if I feel anything needs a boost I use Vanish powder as well and this lifts any serious stains even on a low wash. I do have a bit of washing from visiting grandson and this routine copes with his stuff as well. I know we were all meant to be saving energy but I mainly due to it save money!!!

I wash at least 1 wash everyday , sometimes two. I do my towels in one wash, whites in another. Hubbys work clothes in one on its own then darks and lights

jacksmum Sat 28-Jan-17 22:00:16

I do a whites wash and a colours wash , i love the smell of Fairy wash, it reminds me of when i had my children and washed their nappies in Fairy powder (no liquid in those days ,lol) then nappies went on the washing line to dry, they came in smelling so nice, so when i now use the liquid the washing smells just the same, maybe i am a silly oldie to think of the smell of my clean washing reminds me of when my children were babies , but its something i would not change , Thank you Fairy x

Laundry done as soon as laundry basket is full, I am retired, so can do it anytime - I can't stand the smell of towels washed in anything but Fairy Non Bio - I am also under the impression that it is environmentally friendly.

Washing load at least once a day and usually more. I often do some of my
DD and her twins' washing. Towels and sheets at 60% with non bio powder. ( my washing machine repairman said that help to keep gasket mound at bay.) Lights and darks at 40% with non bio liquid and special items in the quick wash. Always use non bio as we are an excema prone household.

I am very particular, use different products for different fabrics, different settings for different loads etc, I wash twice weekdays, one dark load on a 40 with Ariel colour care liquid and my favourite Lenor for the time of year. Then on another day I wash my lights with Fairy non bio, use Vanish on spots/stains and again Lenor on a 60. Then over the weekend the bedding gets a 90 wash to kill bacteria with Fairy non bio and Lenor, I again do all the towels & tea towels on a 90 but with Daz to get them lovely and white on a hot wash with lots of fabric conditioner to keep them soft. We don't create too much washing, but I like to keep everything fresh smelling and clean! My machine door and draw are left open after use to dry out the drum and stop nasty smells too.

My laundry schedule? Honestly? OK, here goes...

Ignore laundry all week: at the end of the day, clothes go into a pile either in the bottom of the wardrobe is organised, or a heap in the bathroom if less organised. Any other washing, tea towels etc, in the basket by the washing machine in the kitchen.

Friday evening after work, first dark wash goes on.
Whites and bedding on Saturday morning.

Top tip: Colour Catchers are fantastic when sneaking odd colours into a load

Dried laundry is dumped into chair and ignored for as long as possible.

On Sunday evening, begrudgingly accept that clothes will be needed for work in the morning. Set up ironing board and iron just enough clothes to see you through the week.

Repeat ad finitum until I win the lottery and can afford a valet to do it all for me!

purplevamp Sun 29-Jan-17 16:28:14

I do my washing normally on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is usually darks and Sunday is lights. Occasionally I'll do an extra wash during the week if it piles up too much.

Rowantree Sun 29-Jan-17 19:19:13

Fairy people, are you REALLY going to read all these? Honestly?

So ok, here's mine:

I wash whenever I feel the urge. No routine really. However...

I use caustic soda to wash OH's underwear. I find it encourages a lively attitude. Mine are hand-washed in yak's milk and rinsed in pure spring-water.

Sheets: Boilwash, with plenty of soot added as a fabric conditioner (it's the old ones what are best)

Dark clothes: Soaked in lapsang souchong tea to enhance colour.
Woollens and delicates: Cleaning these requires patience. I hang them on trees in the garden for a twelvemonth, following which I wrap them up with a hundred snails until the next blue moon. This ensures a soft finish.

I'm bored now.

I use non branded washing powder and it varies how many washes a week I do.

sammylea80 Sun 29-Jan-17 20:25:38

I think I have some secret people living in my house that I don't know about! The wash basket is always full and the machine goes on at least once a day ! Roll on summer time so that I can hang it on the washing line

dragonfly63 Mon 30-Jan-17 06:12:01

We run the washing machine both days. We separate into whites, lights and darks and I also hand wash delicate items. We use a good quality powder and rarely use fabric softener.

GeminiJen Mon 30-Jan-17 11:14:41

Rowantree grin Off to try your caustic soda tip....

sammyislost Mon 30-Jan-17 15:34:38

Well at the moment we get free electrical energy at the weekends, so I do all my washing then...I separate into lights and darks, and pop any smalls or socks into a net bag. Our conservatory is perfect for drying clothes, and bedding, so i usually get it wash, dried, ironed and put away before Sunday ends!

Dartzie62 Mon 30-Jan-17 16:42:24

We wash on a Monday - get it all done, about 3 or 4 loads. Then off to the laundromat to dry it on a Tuesday, folded and put away the same day. Brilliant!
The pluses are:
no exorbitant electric bill as it is paid straight away (£6/wk)
All done in one go and no washing hanging about the house.
I can get my shopping in while it is drying.

Carolespr Mon 30-Jan-17 17:58:20

Monday is the day for all towels and hubby's hankies done on a 60 degree wash and tumbledried afterwards. As our sheets are polyester, they are done separately on 40 degrees. All other washing is sorted into dark and light and washed separately on 40 degrees, followed by about 20 mins. tumbledrying as it saves on ironing!!!

sweir1 Mon 30-Jan-17 23:16:57

We basically lump in everything together at 40 degrees and never have an issue!

moxeyns Tue 31-Jan-17 10:20:38

Now I live alone, I do the washing when the wash basket is full; and I no longer bother to sort colours. Everything gets chucked in at 30deg, interspersed by the occasional towel/bedding run at 60.

Voni Tue 31-Jan-17 10:21:31

I wash as and when needed. Separate whites and coloureds. Generally wash at 40 except towels at 60. Prefer to hang outside if poss. Use non bio powder-whichever is on offer. Use fabric cond. live in area of very hard water so use tablet in machine to combat limescale

I had to wave goodbye yesterday to the second of two massive toploaders which have done me proud over 20 years & 4 strapping sons so I have to work out a whole new laundry routine starting today. With the toploaders I could just throw a massive quantity in &, about 90 mins later, out it came again thoroughly washed & spun within an inch of it's life, lol. This morning I have gone with "heavy" clothes first so they can start drying but that load took two hours & now I need to wash sheets etc.
I miss my old friend already.....

Dannydog1 Tue 31-Jan-17 10:33:42

I don't have set days for laundry, I do a load when I have enough eg towels, whites, colours etc. I have different laundry solutions e.g. Bio, non bio. I use 30 for most washes but will be using temperature for bed linens from now on having recently read this isn't high enough to kill bed bugs!
