Just seen an article about the Closing Ceremony. Now's our chance to plead for our case, namely that it is not ruined by ageing rock stars, wheezing their old hits and displaying their hair dyes!
_Here's my list of the banned_:
*Paul McCartney+
Elton John
Cliff Richard
Brian May
Tom Jones
Kylie
Madonna [as if]
_Exceptions to the above_:
Mick Jagger and the Stones
Shirley Bassey
Elvis Presley grin
Any others for either list?

Wot..no Chas n' Dave!

NfkDumpling Sun 12-Aug-12 19:57:54

NOT POOR OLD PAULY -especially if he attempts Hey Jude again. The only way he gets through that one is getting the audience to sing. 'Cos he can't anymore.

Anagram Sun 12-Aug-12 19:45:21

I like their First Steps too.

specki4eyes Sun 12-Aug-12 19:38:00

Woo hoo! Just read that Elbow are performing 'One Day Like This' tonight! You see! They listened to me!! Listen, enjoy and inwardly digest the lyrics! Puts Hey Jude in the shade and makes up for Spice Girls, Macca, and all the other old folk who are getting their £1 wages.

Kids still here Nonu. smile Have been to a farm and played crazy golf today. Dunno who's worse at that, them or me! hmm grin

They are now bathed and eating tea in front of the Olympics. The seven year old was absolutely crazy for Mo to win. So jubilant when he did. flag

Apparently the Spice Girls (girls?) are to be performing on top of a London taxi. Bizarre or what?

crimson Sat 11-Aug-12 10:32:20

And The Who [who?]. And, guess what, they're having to mime as well.

Let us know Gadabout how you get on! smile

Anagram Thu 09-Aug-12 22:18:28

Google gives all sorts of info. That's what it's there for! grin

GadaboutGran Thu 09-Aug-12 22:17:06

Thanks for the suggestions eGJ. Both possible.

specki4eyes Thu 09-Aug-12 22:16:35

Did it bring tears to your eyes Annika? I'm going to have a look - can't believe Google would give that info! Back soon.

Anagram Thu 09-Aug-12 21:32:57

Annika, so did I - but I still don't know what the purpose was, unless it was to kill bacteria! grin

eGJ Thu 09-Aug-12 21:25:45

Second suggestion Blackheath, top of Greenwich Park.

eGJ Thu 09-Aug-12 21:25:10

Top of Shooter's Hill? Saw the Fireworks there for VE celebrations & Millennium.
