What is it Maw?

Lindylo Mon 16-Jul-18 12:00:15

Heard this on the news with morning.
'Gareth' Southgate station is very apt. Shame it's only for 24 hours.

MawBroon Mon 16-Jul-18 12:08:03

“Southgate” tube station annie renamed “Gareth Southgate! “

gillybob Mon 16-Jul-18 12:13:40

Brilliant Maw thank you for sharing.

My last word is to say Well done France, very worthy winners !

DanniRae Mon 16-Jul-18 12:38:54

We watched the final with our daughter and she didn't want France to win because a women at her work had picked out France in the sweepstake and she doesn't like her!
So we all supported Croatia but, really, France deserved to win.

Brilliant!!

My final word is well done France but brilliantly done to Gareth Southgate and the England Squad. I feel a bright future is ahead.

My husband was born and brought up in Southgate.

I was just showing my DH the BBC Online News article about this. It's brilliant isn't it? Lindylo according to that article it's for 48 hours.

It is great and in stark contrast to the riots in Paris - what is the matter with them - they won!

Stansgran Mon 16-Jul-18 16:19:27

I think they've done the same in the metro( not for Gareth) look on twitter.

Cherrytree59 Mon 16-Jul-18 16:22:38

The Croatian president seemed to be an excellent ambassador for her country and football team.?

MiniMoon Mon 16-Jul-18 16:43:10

My neighbour's son has a French girlfriend. She visited them yesterday to watch the final. She left looking extremely happy.
It was one of the best world cup tournaments I've seen. I enjoyed almost every minute of it.
Well done Harry Kane!
"England captain Harry Kane has won the Golden Boot after finishing as the World Cup's top scorer with Croatia's Luka Modric winning the Golden Ball for being the player of the tournament."

Former Nore Dame station on the Paris Métro I assume

While on holiday last week my GCs were so taken with France and the French that they decided they'd support the team and were delighted when they won! Everyone we met encouraged the children to use their very limited language skills and were unfailingly kind and supportive to me as I staggered around a few weeks post-op!
Another reason to cancel Brexit! (Sorry, couldn't resist that!

mcem Mon 16-Jul-18 17:28:30

While we were on holiday in France, my GDs decided they'd support the French team.
Everyone we met encouraged the children to try out their rudimentary language skills. As l tottered around on a stick, (post-op) I was treated with kindness and consideration at all times.
Child-like, the children decided they liked French people and were happy when we heard, as we negotiated CDG airport on the way home, that 'their' team had won.
Aaaah the innocence of childhood!

Jalima1108 Mon 16-Jul-18 17:32:39
