Crystal Palace 1 - Man City - 0

My lovely, wonderful Dad and his equally lovely brother were Crystal Palace supporters their whole lives, and as he didn't have a boy to take to matches, my Dad substituted me and from the time I got too big for him to squeeze me beneath the turnstile so he didn't have to pay for me, I was a proud season ticket holder for many years.

I'm so excited I had to write it down it somewhere grin and I'm raising a glass or 2 just for my Daddy right now wine

Yes, very well done Crystal Palace! I’m not a fan of either team, but it’s so nice when a club that is not normally the winner of a final pulls it off against a side backed by billions - I bet the club and all their fans will be celebrating tonight!

Well done Palace 🏆

One of our GS’s is a City supporter, he takes his football very seriously, he will be in pieces.

We were there a week ago, in the Ovo. Can’t say it is my favourite place. The whole area is like a jungle of concrete. Very claustrophobic.

I’m someone who really does not understand This obsession with football, each to their own of course. CP is our local team and my DS says he is “euphoric”!he has been glued to the telly on this lovely summer afternoon.

I went to London for a Cup Final when my team at the time [West Brom]were in the final but gave my ticket to a proper fan. I've rather fallen out of love with football in recent years which saddens me.

Well done Palace, Glad they won.

Delighted for CP, their first major win.
Prefer Man City to United but delighted the other team won.

I'm glad Palace won. Manchester City have been riding high for too long. Good to see another team winning.

I am a big football fan and have actually followed one of the larger teams since the age of 12 but were thrilled for Crystal Palace. You can tell they had a plan and stuck to it and each of their players gave 100 per cent. Lovely that one of the smaller teams with a long term comitted owner has won instead of atesm dripping with money.x

Brilliant result, we watched every touch, scored then defended, Henderson was superb, a just reward!
From a Southampton 🙄 fan me and Leeds MrJ.

I am a CP fan. Have been forever and DH (Liverpool fan) and I were at Wembley today.
The atmosphere was brilliant and we have won our first ever trophy.
I am so proud, it was so emotional, our fans were loud and proud.
We are now on our way home.
A wonderful day ☺️ 😊

How wonderful Sar53! You won't forget that one in a hurry.

My daughter and I were in London yesterday to see a show (Book of Mormon absolutely fantastic!) and beforehand we went to Covent Garden, where there were 100s of Crystal Palace fans before the match.

We somehow got caught up in a kind of a parade the Palace fans were in and it was so enjoyable! The atmosphere was friendly, lots of people enjoying themselves and we found ourselves rooting for Palace, we kept a check on the score on the train on the way back.

I’m not into football at all but my family team is Man City and my sister called me a Judas (jokingly) for being in the ‘parade’.

All good fun and a good result!!

I'm not a football fan but DH (Spurs) was watching wanting a London club to win and I joined him - with a glass of wine to sustain me. I have to say I did enjoy it, in a way. Very supensefull if that's a word (pedants I know it isn't). I liked the huge celebratory cheers and smiles.

Thererwas a very sad little Man C boy which made me think of my grandson at that age doing the same thing over Man C.

Palace is our local team and my 2 DS were there . I couldn’t bear to watch it as I find it too stressful, but I’m thrilled they won, a non glamorous club from a very non glamorous area- I loved seeing the joy on the players’ and fans’ faces.

I've been quietly reminiscing about Palace after yesterday's great win and I've just remembered that I climbed over the fence in the stands and became part of the pitch invasion when they were promoted to the first division under Bert Head.

Their first game was against Man U and I would have been a full on teenager - that day was one of divided loyalties - Palace on the one hand, but George Best on the other, possibly the first real teen pin up footballer?

And to this day you'll find me still stamping my feet if I ever hear Glad All Over grin

Cabbie21 Sun 18-May-25 19:38:41

Always a thrill when the underdog wins.
I’m not a football fan but my grandson is.
