A thread for those who are watching it.

Not sure how interested in it I will be.
Like I said on the not watching thread, it may depend how far some Countires I am interested in, get to, in the competition.

The African teams have been underestimated. Fabulous goalie!

merlotgran Wed 01-Jul-26 18:32:01

We can’t get anything past their defence.

Watching this game is detrimental to my current asthma flare up 🫁

I think a lot of teams are finding these African teams difficult to play and beat.

I keep coming back to this bit from MayBee70 Weds 24th June 3.01am

They are not doing great. In my opinion.
Defence is ropey again. All my opinion.
And Pickford is not having his best game either.

One nil already?😱 Come on England!

rafichagran Wed 01-Jul-26 17:18:18

I agree about the penalty shoot outs MayBee70!

Didnt see the Germany match. Wow.

Saw Brazil v Japan.
Brazil scraped through.
Japan played better 1st half and scored a goal.
Brazil played better 2nd half and got a 2nd goal in something like the 92nd minute.

MayBee70 Tue 30-Jun-26 00:31:42

Whenever there are penalty shoot outs it brings back all the agony of previous England ones. Can’t believe Germany are out!

Poor old Scotland. Pack your bagpipes, I suppose.

The manager has already thrown in the towel (even though he's not the one on the pitch being stupendously overpaid to get the ball in the net.)

Thank god Clarke has gone - yes, at the end of the day the players on the pitch have to get results, but he also has to bear a huge amount of responsibility for the poor overall performance with his player selection and set-up. He also showed a complete lack of grace and professionalism in his post-match interviews. The SFA should never have renewed his contract - they need a complete overhaul from the top down.

I would have to agree with you. I have a Scottish SIL who went up to Scotland to watch their WC qualifying game against Denmark. Sadly, they have been unable to replicate anywhere near that performance on the pitch. Scotland did have a tough group. It was the only group out of 12 that had 2 of the top 10 teams in the world in it with Brazil and Morocco. I was disappointed that Ross Stewart who played for my club, Southampton, didn't get more playing time. He had a good end to the season for the Saints . Shame he never got much of a chance to show his talent as a striker.

We won, but it wasn’t convincing.

Casdon Sun 28-Jun-26 07:29:33

Well done England, it’s good to finish at the top of the group stage. Don’t be too hard on Scotland, remember it’s a small country, and they did well to qualify in the first place, football is very competitive in Europe. .

Better play tonight! Well done England.

Fireworks and an outdoor party just calming down. I could hear the goals. ☺️

Has anyone else found it so disconcerting to watch England playing in red and the opposition playing in our usual strip of white. However they are playing better and I am delighted.

Yes we both did! Good result in the end!
