A thread for those who are watching it.

Not sure how interested in it I will be.
Like I said on the not watching thread, it may depend how far some Countires I am interested in, get to, in the competition.

Perfect goal!

MayBee70 Wed 15-Jul-26 21:02:18

If somebody scores, even Argentina, I might pluck up the courage to watch it…I’ve just got the black cloud of penalty shoot outs hanging over me…

Casdon Wed 15-Jul-26 20:58:24

Not as enjoyable to watch as last night unfortunately, it’s all a bit too niggly for my liking.

MayBee70 Wed 15-Jul-26 20:56:58

The bit I did watch said that Argentina should have had several yellow cards but the only one given out was to England albeit being justified sad. I’m assuming that if we score someone will put it up here given that I’m not brave enough to watch it…

crazyH Wed 15-Jul-26 20:56:42

Yes - quite a good game, though rough - Argentinians are quite tetchy

MartavTaurus Wed 15-Jul-26 20:54:24

Well one of the three great scorers has got to do it soon.

fancythat Wed 15-Jul-26 20:52:33

There have been 19 fouls so far.

fancythat Wed 15-Jul-26 20:50:36

0-0 half time

Not sure which way the score will finally end up.
On balance, Argentina are playing better? Just?

Fallingstar Wed 15-Jul-26 20:24:07

I tend to wander about, in and out of the back yard and in and out of the rooms. The family think that if I watch a full game I jinx it because every game I don’t watch ends up with an England win.
Will know if they score because will hear the whoops from the pub down the road.

fancythat Wed 15-Jul-26 20:16:11

Not sure I want to watch the game properly.
The fouls on each other are only going to get worse I think.
The referee seems to be handling things ok so far?

fancythat Wed 15-Jul-26 20:15:06

!

I have put my Mum’s photo facing the TV. She was a big football fan. She did the trick for us the last two matches so fingers crossed she does the same tonight! 🤞🤞🤞

fancythat Wed 15-Jul-26 20:07:40

Quite.

merlotgran Wed 15-Jul-26 20:07:18

Rough game! No love lost.

MartavTaurus Wed 15-Jul-26 19:50:34

I can't bear all the build-up drama. I just want it to get started. 😆

Jaxjacky Wed 15-Jul-26 18:39:32

Looking forward to it with trepidation, got to trust Tuchel, he’s a good tactician.
Come on boys! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

MayBee70 Wed 15-Jul-26 18:28:16

I don't actually think I'm brave enough to watch it. I always remember taking the dog for a walk at the end of an England match years ago only to be told when I got back that they were still playing. Might have been the same game or another one when I listened to the penalty shoot out in the hall with my hands over my eyes. And I,too, am worried about the refereeing.

They are in the semi-finals imaround.
Winner plays Spain in the final this Sunday.

imaround Wed 15-Jul-26 16:11:53

I do not keep up with sports of any kind, but I saw this morning that England is doing very well! England vs Argentina I believe?

I am excited for you all! Great job!

fancythat Wed 15-Jul-26 15:03:51

8pm tonight. I am starting to get excited.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 15-Jul-26 08:40:34

I had a message from one of our GSs well done Grandma, you said Spain had a good chance 🇪🇸🇪🇸

Sarnia Wed 15-Jul-26 08:17:06

I posted on here not to discount Spain in last night's semi. They are a team who improve with every game in the major tournaments. They deserved their win and their place in the final.
I have a sense of unease about tonight's game. Infantino is corrupt, no two ways about it and the ref for our game knows Messi very well. He was officiating in the match when Argentina won the World Cup in Qatar and has regularly refereed Inter Miami games, Lionel Messi's club. I would prefer a completely impartial ref to officiate tonight. We shall see how this pans out.
Infantino is a closet Argentine fan as his slip of the tongue comment after Egypt came close to knocking them out, shows only too well, even though he tried to cover it up by saying he was neutral. Yeah, right! Infantino would love to see a new record set at this World Cup and that is for a team to win this tournament back to back. And that team is Argentina. Messi has never played against England. Come on our lads make it a night he wished he had never met us.

Casdon Wed 15-Jul-26 08:07:55

There’s no denying that Argentina are a very good team, we just have to hope that England are on form and beat them, because they are a very good team too. Let’s hope it’s good tempered, for the players and fans alike.

fancythat Wed 15-Jul-26 07:55:42

I dont think I have much idea of the score of tonight's match.
And neither the trouble in it or afterwards.

There are conspiracy theories online that the referee is very pro Argentina. We shall see.

Grammaretto

My French friends were sadly disappointed. She went to bed. He said he's Breton and not really French.
We thoroughly enjoyed our crêpes, washed down with wine.
I hung the Breton flag on our Flagpole and picked red white and blue flowers for the table.
Sorry France 😟

I think it is lovely to be Nationalistic [as long as it doesnt go too far]. Each Country's citizens cheering on their own Country.
Sport does it so well. Most of the time.
