I have a lovely bag made by Pioneros (an Argentinian company that you can buy from on line) It is navy and brown so I can wear navy or brown shoes without changing my bag. I think it comes in maroon and brown too. It was £100 which is a lot but it is timeless and lasts well. It is called a bucket bag and I love it. I hate having to change bags all the time depending on what I am wearing so it really suits me. It is modern but suitable for our age I think. My cousin has one too so we have to be careful when we meet up!! It is not too heavy either. I bought a beautiful bag from East a couple of years ago but haven't used it as it is too heavy. East also sell beautiful bags though. Good luck x

Russell & Bromley are more expensive but do lovely bags. I know what you mean about the little dog. It's annoying. Longchamp also do leather ones, but again more expensive, but lovely.

I have an Ameribag which is comfortable to carry my kitchen sink- size load, including the Sheewee of course! It is a timeless tear-drop shaped bag with a non-slip strap and plenty of pockets. They come in various sizes (see them on Ebay) in leather or fabric.

Also known as a Healthy Back Bag shysal....I've got 2 baglets and a bigger bag and they are brilliant. I don't use anything else....a little pricey but cheaper off ebay.

I own two 'The Bridge' hand/shoulder bags. They are made in Florence in wonderul natural tan leather and look good after 20 years and hold their price on e-bay.
When I was working I had one to hold A4 size documents and sold it on e-bay at a profit!

Another Radley hater here! I like R and B, but also Peony and Moore (online), Modalu, L. K. Bennett, Comptoir des Cotonniers, and Zadig and Voltaire.

townie mmmmmm L K Bennett! I love them and for my sins I own one or two Gucci and Louis Vuitton bags Handbags and shoes are my addiction. I do try to stop myself without much success.

townie I agree - LK Bennett is very mmmm.! Also love Comptoir des Cotonniers and Peony and Moore although the web site of the last one was much easier to get around and see the bags. Liked one on L K Bennet and also the Navy Lucia on P & M -- my daughter says they have been talking about this one on Mumsnet - in Camel - - now she tells me!!

My Russell and Bromly is a good 5 years old and still looks very smart. Its a classic dark brown leather of medium size. Goes with everything, every now and again I think I fancy a change but I always go back to it!

me radley hater too - ubiquitous and popular with girly girls - try Tula been goiung for years and last forever!

I have a collection of Tula bags of different colours, all bought on Ebay, in great condition. They are classic shapes and vary between capacious and elegantly unobtrusive. For travel, I have acquired a slashproof shoulder bag from Pacsafe (Amazon, not Ebay this time). Today I have bought a small sky blue leather bag, a bit more ornate than usual. Now I'll have to buy an outfit to match it.

Tula is the not so trendy arm of Radley same company. there bags are wonderful and a huge choice, if youare anywhere near a Clarks Village type shopping centre with all discount shops then they nearly always have a store full of wonderful bargains! Some of my best Tula bags have come from up-market charity shops!

Try TK Maxx online...they have an excellent selection of designer leather bags...I had a gorgeous tan one last year........middle daughter 'borrowed' it for a holiday.....yes you have guessed ...I ended up giving to her.
My youngest treated herself to a much longed for Mulberry...which is amazing but she never uses anything else.
