Applying make-up

I slap it on everyday. Love makeup. I always use a primer under foundation, makes the foundation stay put!!! I love the max factor foundation,it is light and easy to put on. My favourite creamy eyeshadows are from Estee Lauder.

green I use make-up every day but the one I tend to use is M&S tinted moisturiser in medium shade,it costs just £4.00 and is fab,I cleanse,dollop of cream for sensitive skin then tinted moisturiser and a quick splash of mascara,and thats me for the day apply lip colour when going out.I think its because I always tended to wear make-up for my job and it has become a habit,but I still lounge about in tracksuit or jeans.

Inspired by this thread I tried a new kind of eyeliner that was lurking on my bathroom. It's a thick cream that is applied with a pointy brush. Easy to get it close to the roots of my eyelashes. Harder to get both eyes matching...
Must have a look to see how it is surviving.

Hilda - went shopping on Saturday with DDiL who recommended a new Max Factor foundation with serum in it. I think it's called "Elixir" (it's upstairs so I'll double check later. It is really, really good!

YSL Touche Eclat for me, too. Takes years off! I always go back to Oil of Olay moisturiser. Most days, if I'm leaving the house, it'll be moisturiser, blusher, lipstick, mascara. Indoors, I just use moisturiser, especially in winter when the heating is on. I have no wrinkles on my face - take after mother and grandmother. (My 31 year old son was asked for ID when buying wine a few days ago, as he has a baby face still (he's 6'5"). That really irritates him as this happens every few weeks)

Clinique tinted moisturiser and Barbara Daley cream blusher. No eye make-up. It's difficult to put on wearing glasses and can't see myself even in a magnifying mirror without them.

Ooer Crimson.......expensive tastes....trouble is I probably shant use the darn stuff again so need something a bit more reasonable.

Does anyone wear make-up everyday? I know Bagitha doesn't wear make-up, because I remember her mentioning that in an earlier post, but now I don't go to work, I find that I only tend to put moisturiser on, with a lick of mascara and lipstick when I go further afield. Maybe I'm letting myself go...?

..I bought a No7 blusher when I was on holiday and forgot to take some with me but usually use Yves St Laurent. The latter is much much better and lasts for ages.

I use Elizabeth Arden Pure Finish Tinted Moisturiser.

Last time I put on full face make-up was a good 5 years ago and my skin has definately gone over the hill. I've got to put on full face for a panto (we dont need real stage make-up) I'm having fun doing some really dramatic eyes but can anyone recommend a brand of foundation for my post menopause skin. Its not too dry by is wrinkly and has definately lost its bounce.

Always best to use an eye make up base under shadow or cream shadow; the Barbara Daly Tescos one is very good.

Glammanana Thanks for that! Annobel Thank you, too! I have never suffered with sensitive skin until I tried Protect and Perfect under eye cream and had a bit of a reaction. I love trying new things but not wasting money so when I approach the make-up counters I just drool for a while then walk away Luckily, I have daughters that treat me now and again After Christmas I am going to do someting about my weight (I think I have heard myself say that before)

mercylily be careful with the sparkly eyeliner if you have sensitive skin,last year I used some for xmas party and suffered dreadfully the next day with really itchy eyelids.

I'm currently using a cream stick eyeshadow in grey from Avon that is twisted up like a lipstick. I've also bought a similar one in plum but have not tried it yet. Really like the grey though it seems to disappear or crease on my left eye for some reason and I don't rub my eyes! Strange. I look dire without makeup as I have naturally dark circles under my eyes just like my grandma, so concealer is also a vital component of my make up 'regime'.

Yup must stock up myself next week when I am in a meeting next door to Tesco. It goes on more easily than other brands I've tried

Thanks all. Well my boss had a look at my eyes and she said they looked ok. Next I want to try some sparkly eye liner for Christmas! However, that my be a step too far ...

I don't think I've ever managed to lose a post yet. It's a good idea to preview and then post. BTW, Jess, your tip - months ago - about the Barbara Daley cream moisturiser from Tesco has proved very valuable. I think I am now on my third lot! Thanks .

Is anyone else finding that their posts are disappearing this week? What happened to my makeup post???

My make-up bag is full of stuff I buy with the best intentions and then cannot be bothered to use! I try to remember mascara (usually fail) and every hand bag I possess contains at least one (unused) lippy. I generally slap on some tinted moisturiser after my shower and blusher if I remember, to make me look less like the living dead, but since giving up work rarely if ever, go the whole hog. My attempt at smokey eyes made me look as if I just needed about 10 hours' sleep. So I would be happy for shared advice!!

An Italian lady on the telly once said you can have any shade of eyeshadow as long as it's brown. I find cream eye shadow is easy to use, but have started to put a bit of powder shadow under my eye, finding it's much softer than kohl sticks [note to Duchess of Cambridge; stop using the black pencil!]. Have also started to use a magnifying mirror so I can really see what I'm doing, and am trying to use much softer eye make up.

Mercy it depends on your eye colour don't go for blue's if you have blue eye's same for brown or green,and always make sure you dust off the surplus of powder from the brush and just apply a wee bit at a time ,if using face make up I always always mix mine with a small amount of moisturiser and I have no problems,if you keep having problems just go into John Lewis or any other store and ask for a makeup rep to advise you they will not mind at all.
